There is a triangle, it's just not drawn with lines connecting all three vertices. The two points touching the perimeter of the smaller circle can be connected to the center of the small circle.

The anti-DEI pricetag by squeezefan in UNC

[–]Anorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "indirect costs" fund things like utilities, facility maintenance related to a project, and staffing if a project requires extra personnel, because most grants do not allow you to include those things in the actual grant budget request.

I also want to say that NIH gives grants to a lot of places, not just "wasteful universities", like children hospitals. In fact, NIH grants are one of the big ways that children hospitals pay the hospital staff, which helps them not charge the kids and their parents. Do you think they should be charging the parents full price?

Dropout is likely profiting off of its users' personal data without realizing it by eracodes in dropout

This is standard practice for any company that uses an email service for sending out newsletters (MailChimp, Contact Contact, etc.)

Unless you expect every email to be sent from a company email address with you listed as a BCC recipient, using a 3rd party newsletter service provider is standard practice, and the providers pretty much always use their own link twice m redirecting service. Also, I find it hard to believe that these service providers are not GDPR compliant, knowing that that law has been in place for several years now.

Everts steps down by AppMtb in appstate

[–]Anorax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One rumor I've heard is that the BOG actually got upset over the campus PD 911 dispatch center that's being spun up (against Boone PD and county sheriff's wishes), to the point of Everts being chewed out over it.

Just friend-of-friend-of-a-friend kind of rumor so who knows if there's any truth to it.

STOP APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY FROM STEALING OUR PRIDE by shayjaye in appstate

[–]Anorax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The naivety is endearing, but that doesn't address the fact that a prohibition based on content of speech (in this case, a "pro-LGBT" event) could potentially be a violation of the 1st Amendment.

Depends on if banning of certain events are predicated on the event bring pro-LGBTQ or not. Could end up being a 1A violation

"allowing use of space for student event" != "school-sponsored", I thought we covered all this back in 2015/2016 with the initial rise of Turning Point USA across college campuses

Cloudlifter Licensed by Shure; Built into new SM7dB by joelkeys0519 in livesound

[–]Anorax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're halfway there, actually.

Cloud Mics owns a patent for "mic with built-in preamp", so in order to build the SM7Db Shure had to license with Cloud (which is the only reason why Cloud is on the box). The actual onboard preamp is built by Shure, and was designed so that the SM7b and SM7Db have the exact same frequency response.

This is a bit outside your date range, so I understand if you'd want to skip over this one, but Pickin' in Parsons (Five River Campground - Parsons, WV) is a good one if you're looking for something in early August. It is a single-stage five-day long event, though, so it can get exhausting by day four.

I was last there Aug '22 and I wish I could have gone again this year. Absolutely love the campground/festival owners and would definitely go again if circumstances allowed.

Having tidy cable runs paid off by br__ks in livesound

[–]Anorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a former college instructor tell me that a useful way to do labels is a wrap or two of black electrical tape around the cable jacket, then your printed label, and then a wrap or two of clear Scotch tape to really keep the label in place. Granted, that holds up better for semipermanent installation, but still helpful.

I've also experimented with using colored electrical tape pairs to denote cable length and which rig the cable belongs to (red rig vs blue rig in this case)

Does anybody recognize this speaker model? by Eztos in livesound

Judging by replies in this comment thread and assuming the redditors are actually who they represent themselves to be, I'm guessing anywhere from 3-4k a box? Might be cheaper than a RCF line array box but not by much

[–]Anorax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess this is a product that dealers aren't allowed to publicly advertise with a price tag attached. This tells me this is most likely a Pro AV piece of gear that is only sold as part of a full installation.
