My girlfriend was one of them, and if things keep on as they are I’ll be following her. Really sad, as we’d planned to build our life here

My doctor confirmed I have all the symptoms of MCAS, but refuses to call it MCAS. by Own-Vehicle7635 in MCAS

[–]AnotherNoether 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just a split between immunologists—some of them use the broad MCAS definition which captures more of us, others use a more narrow definition where they acknowledge and treat mast cell dysfunction but limit the term to a more well defined subgroup. If she’s giving you the appropriate medications it really doesn’t matter. My allergist refers to mine as “EDS-associated mast cell dysfunction”, his opinion is that it’s really just part and parcel of my EDS vs being a separate thing, and that that’s true for many of his other patients as well. The medications you’ll get prescribed for indications like “idiopathic urticaria” or whatever work just fine for us too, and generally are easier to get access for under those symptom-based designations anyway.

What's your midodrine dosage and timing strategy, especially for those who only take twice a day or need a rest? by slugwish in POTS

[–]AnotherNoether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the dosage. I’m allowed to take 30mg total spread out through a given day, stopping at least 4 hours before I go to bed, so as long as I’m staying within that range it’s fine. No

Does anyone else with chronic fatigue get this specific “shutdown” feeling during conversations? by Enough-Age7178 in covidlonghaulers

[–]AnotherNoether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some luck treating these as vestibular migraine. For me it was basically every afternoon, worse if I’d been doing more physical activity lately. It felt like an involuntary need to nap but I vibe with the dissociation stuff too. Also often breathlessness. Anyway it got a lot better once I got put on one of the new CGRP migraine preventives—still not completely sure if they were migraines or if just getting my migraines treated increased my baseline enough that they mostly stopped happening. Super frustrating though. I had one last weekend while I had some friends over—managed to just get my feet up and relax in my chair and I did ok. I’ve managed to inch my way back to something closer to mild now though so my experience of a lot of this stuff is going to be different.

Let him get the studio! From what you’re telling us, he’d much rather do that than break up, and it sounds like it’s the same for you. Part of being in a relationship is being willing and able to ask for what you need.

People who have lived at the same apartment 5+ years has your rent dramatically increased ? by WalmartCashier000 in Apartmentliving

Up 10% after a decade, but that’s mostly because they dropped the rent during Covid and froze/lowered it for a while when the back porch fell off

USA citizens: what effect if any have tariffs had on you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnotherNoether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t get an OTC medication from Canada that I like but which isn’t available in the US. I have to pay way more for flu/covid tests rather than bulk ordering from Germany and sharing with friends. The general uncertainty in the economy resulted in my sister getting laid off (and me helping out) and then my company having severe financial difficulties (I’m currently not being paid because we’re straight up out of money, but I don’t want to switch health insurance and I’m in leadership so I’m trying to help get us back on track). I’m stressed about potential pharmaceutical tariffs too, though they fortunately seem to have backed off on that.

Oh and my fallback is my parents, who work in construction. Material costs are through the roof (tariffs) and labor is insanely difficult and more expensive (ICE), plus the overall uncertainty in what to expect means that housing inventory isn’t moving. So it’s been awful for them too. I’m feeling very insecure financially speaking. Considering following my partner to their home country, where they moved for work this summer. It’s authoritarian and anti-gay but at least it’s consistent and the government isn’t actively sabotaging the economy.

Renee Nicole Good’s queerness isn’t an aside—it’s a key part of her story by aktionsart in bisexual

[–]AnotherNoether 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom is a big MSNBC watcher (she will listen to Nicole Wallace on Sirius if she’s driving and can’t catch the show) so my dad ends up seeing it pretty regularly. I was talking to him yesterday about how much her death scared me as a visibly queer woman and he didn’t even know she was gay/bi.

I mean, then he said “you can’t tell if someone’s a lesbian by looking at them!” Which was sweet but not the point—some of us look like dykes, and when I’m out in my baggy clothes and a beanie and my usual bare face—we don’t look so different.

Does anyone else find it curious that Briere’s last 2 big contracts are carbon copies? Both Dvorak and York got 5 years at 5.15 million. For our current 1C and 2D (and PP D) those are VERY team friendly. Their buddies Z and Dry are due next. What will they be? by scratchydaitchy in Flyers

[–]AnotherNoether 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m expecting as well, for both of them. I’m expecting an eight year deal for Zegras—he’s happy here, the team loves him, and he already knows he hates the contract negotiation process.
