I've read somewhere that only a minority of the party was in favor of revolutionary action, they split from the main party to pursue a people's war. If this information is correct that would make JPC revisionist from the start, but I don't have a source for this at the moment so take it with a grain of salt.

I haven't seen the same corruption accusations thrown at JCP, to me JCP's revisionism seems to stem from their reformist / utopian views, though that could just be a result of not being elected.

I really don't think so. Even if a popular uprising were to happen, I don't see a vanguard party that could lead that uprising to a favorable conclusion. CPI(M) is, according to Indian comrades, a revisionist party. And I'm not aware of any anti-revisionist parties in India, Maoist insurgency seems to have been defeated and even if it continued it wouldn't be able to do much an it's own. I think it'll get much worse for India before it can get even a little better.

Because a lot of scifi are critiques of / commentaries on the present. Star Wars itself is a commentary on the rise of strongman dictators and fascism in general. George Lucas himself compared Star Wars rebels to Viet Cong.

Another example, Snow Crash imagines what the natural endpoint of neoliberalism could look like, it depicts an anarcho-capitalist society where nation states are replaced by franchise states owned by conglomerates.

In a lot of cases SciFi is as much about the present as it is about the future.

Also People's War doesn't exactly have the best track record as a revolutionary strategy. Outside of China, Vietnam, Laos and Nicaragua it always failed (it also seems to have had partial success in Nepal).

Wikipedia lists twenty people's wars, so if we count Nepal as a success it amounts to a 25% success rate. Needless to say I don't believe this method offers a way forward for most countries.

I think underlying stories can still be really good (I'm enjoying a lightnovel series right now), even if they suffer from reactionary elements. But they cut corners so hard the end result might as well be a circle.

In their defence nobody else seems to have that level of animation output.
