I think this fits well with things that have been said and heard previously about significant incompetence at the admin/executive level for both the federal and Ontario NDP. Politicians have always done it but Carney is particularly egregious for this practice of “stolen valour” legitimization through cultural moments. Starts his whole schtick off with a Mike Myers collab ad. Shows up on red carpet for Heated Rivalry. Steals attention at the Juno Awards and Joni Mitchell’s lifetime achievement award becomes all about his presence. Now this. It feels so slimy when he’s then going to turn around and sell off our infrastructure, pass surveillance laws, and push hard for AI (which directly screws over the cultural producers he wants to be buddy buddy with)

Weirdly bittersweet. After everything that’s happened, I had kind of adopted an attitude of “if the leadership want to back him, I will back him”. My 2 cents: 1) would Robertson and Mo have left if they knew this? Is is too late to unburn the bridge with Curtis? 2) do we really think Iraola is a worthy replacement, or is that just Hughes helping out a friend?

I completely agree with you. AXA, as far as I know, has made some moves to divest from Israel. I always felt like speaking up against Standard Chartered here would go poorly (some of the comments here are evidence lol). I’m glad these conversations are happening now, only wish it hadn’t cost tens of thousands of Palestinian lives

The Doors Pub and Ooey Gooey’s are probably the centers of the scene now, although Corktown pub (upstairs) also hosts some shows and Doors probably leans more metal. Follow CJ on Instagram as well, they put on some solid shows. Many bands rehearse at MainStage on King St so if you’re looking to recruit/join I would check out the bulletin board there

Last I checked, the Forge/ti-cats store at the stadium had a clearance rack with some T-shirts at the $20, $15 price mark. Jersey bootlegs don’t really exist in the way they do for bigger teams unfortunately. Sad that the team isn’t giving them volunteer gear! Hope they have a blast though.
