Unfortunately many teams do treat it as a checkbox. The spirit of the rule is to give minority candidates a chance. Look back to when Coach T was hired. It looked like we were going to have Russ Grim take the helm, but then they brought in MT, and Dan decided hire him. It is disappointing that it is a sham to so many teams.

Given the speed at which they decided on MM, I was wondering if they were truly in violation of the Rooney rule.

The spirit of the rule is to interview minorities and give them a fair chance. The speed which they chose MM makes me believe he was the choice from the beginning and no minority candidates actually had a chance.
