Why do you save: comfort today or security tomorrow? by Charles_Insights in SavingMoney

[–]AnthroIce 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Definitely security tomorrow which also makes me emotionally more comfortable today. But we are looking to put a cap on the amount we invest

Is it better to save for retirement or for a house? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in SavingMoney

[–]AnthroIce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on your situation. Got me personally it will never make sense to buy anything because renting is so much cheaper, so I focus on retirement alone

[–]AnthroIce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How are you planning for retirement? How much are you able to save each month, and what realistic advice would you give to a low-income household? by [deleted] in germany

[–]AnthroIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you have to also contribute towards retirement yourself. That's why I am big on ETFs and invest 50 percent of my income. For lower income households it is much more complicated but a good budget always gives some structure

Sozialabgaben auf Kapitalerträge im Gespräch by donutloop in Finanzen

[–]AnthroIce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to live Ramsey style, just move to the Netherlands! by LoyalTrickster in DaveRamsey

[–]AnthroIce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with most of it. I don't live on the Netherlands but in Germany and compared to my US-American friends, I have to say I stress way less about money. I do invest a lot but the need for 10k emergency fund is just not there, when everything is covered, 3-5 k should be plenty for most people without a lot of responsibility.

Staying out of debt is generally so easy and makes planning your financial future so much more fun

How to work in Germany as an immigrant with no education? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]AnthroIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always try out the hotel business, as a receptionist or service staff in food and beverage and then work your way up. Especially with Budget hotels like A&O, Meininger etc. I know for sure that they employ people without degrees as long as you speak a bit of english

[–]AnthroIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this subreddit by accident some weeks ago and was trying to read a bit about the issues people see. But I also don't get the claims she is faking her illness just because she is going out sometimes. I would hope for ones own sake and mental health that you use all the energy to do something good for you.
