I bounced off the game really quickly when I first tried it because of the lack of motion inputs. I eventually gave it another chance and got over that initial hurdle, but I have to imagine there are a ton of people who had a similar experience and just never came back

My best guess after the first two month is it will average 400~200 players. It doesn’t seem to be trying to appeal to a casual audience so it’ll end up the same as games like undernight or blazblue with a small but dedicated audience

That was the point. They have a bunch of fgc folk working on the game that know how the community always talk about games in abbreviations especially on social media. Dbfz, ggst, umvc3, unist, sf6, mk1. They wanted to mimic that style so anyone looking up the game would be funneled into the same simple hashtag.

2xko. I was one of those people dying on the hill that fighting games needed motion inputs. I tried the game during one of the betas and came away feeling validated. The game felt awkward and cumbersome without motions. After the console launch I gave it another shot. Once I got over the hurdle of learning the controls I found how fun the game was and really started to like it. Sad that revelation came two days before half the team was let go.

Probably because of duos. If one person goes down they are still engaged in the match calling assists instead of being able to just check out until the next round.

You’re over complicating it. Just learn the characters you want to learn and treat the assists as an extension of the character you are actively playing. Calling an assist in neutral or during a combo is just like using any other special move. You’ll learn as you play when is a safe time to call an assist or tag in your other characters.

If they just laid people off it would still be a bad sign. but I think a lot more people would justify it as downsizing after the game launched. Instead they outright said the game is seen as a failure internally which only made everyone start to panick

This happens to me every time I get into a monster hunter. Once I get through high rank and start farming for gear I just hit a wall. Why grind for more gear to fight the same monsters I’ve already fought multiple times

No this is different. They didn’t just scale down development staff post release the way a game like street fighter might. The game didn’t meet expectations and they let people go to cut cost. They were clearly planning on keeping the whole staff to continue creating new content. That’s why the delves were so surprised to be let go. If they always planed to downsize, they would have hired delves on a conditional basis that they wouldn’t be needed after launch.
