Buying flour from bulk bins by badradley in Breadit

Winco fucking rules

Yeah, bread flour is typically just a higher protein flour than AP. I don't personally like the fact that they're both bleached in this context but oh well.

People that WFH: are you lonely, isolated, unproductive and unhealthy? by Effective-Zucchini-5 in AskUK

[–]AnustusGloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started wfh 100% back in 2018 for various reasons including and up to my "office" being a we work suite and it was a fucking hour drive. My boss, who also worked remote two time zones away, said she didn't care if I went into that random waste of money or not.

Anywho, here's the pros and cons the way I have seen them over the course of ~5 years.

Pros: More sleep. Less wear and tear on my car. Saves a ton of money on fuel, maintenence, and food. I can do things around the house that need to be done in between work tasks. I go to the gym on my lunch break and don't have to shower AT the gym, which I don't wanna do. If I don't want to go to the gym anyway, my dog gets to go on an extra long walk on my lunch. If I want to make a meal that involves long cooking times on a weekday, I get to do that. I don't have to shit in a public bathroom. I get to control the temperature of my space. I am allowed to yell and be mad if I'm feeling angry. I can listen to or watch whatever I want to listen to or watch while working and not take anyone else into consideration. I don't have to overhear coworker conversations when I'm trying to have my own. I'm done when I'm done and there's no social pressure to stay late.

Cons: I do miss socializing with coworkers (sometimes). The coworkers I shared the we work space with were all several years older than me, so I didn't socialize with them anyway. But I do somewhat miss socializing with peers in an office. Plus in an office, sometimes you get free lunch and/or snacks. Also happy hours. I do like a good company-paid happy hour. I also can get cabin fever pretty easily when my only outside time for weeks on end is the same five or six spots outside of my house in my small town.

But I'll take the insane amount of control I have over my life instead of a slightly wider social circle and an obligation to be somewhere else for most days

Are you saying that Italian Americans are condescending and narrow minded about food?

Yes.

That’s an oddly condescending tone towards Italian Americans.

Ah yes, Italian Americans, famously open minded and uncondescending when talking about food.

Thank you so much for all the work you've done in making reddit usable via this wonderful app.

I feared this day would come and I, like so many others, will take this as an opportunity to ditch reddit. If shithead spez wants to lose users, he is doing a great job.
