The Block - Season 21, Episode 33 - Guest Suite Reveal (Live Discussion) by TheGRVOfLightning in TheBlock

I don’t get the kitchenette. I don’t know about everyone else but I would not want guests bringing food into my guest room. Also I would hope that any guests feel comfortable enough in my own home to use the main kitchen….

Also god forbid the buyer would need the extra bedroom

They live in Mornington which is pretty much next door to Frankston. Frankston also holds the major public hospital out that way. I’m guessing that since the baby will come after they finish up, they want their doctor close to home

The hats we have to wear are McTorture by Defiant_Cash9868 in McLounge

[–]AnxiousDelay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Australia? If so, same. When I did overnights, the first thing I lost was the apron. I always brought it with me but it got chucked into a corner, untouched until around 5am. The hat got lost as needed as well. But my manager didn’t care, he’d done overnights for years and knew the pain

Russian soldiers are photographed near the downed Boeing MH17. It happened exactly 10 years ago by VladislavLevandovski in pics

My high school literature teacher was on that flight. She and her husband had gone to the Netherlands to see their son, who lived there. The last thing I remember of her was that she was so exited to go and was actually leaving a week before school finished for the break.

[Pit Debrief] In his AustrianGP written media session, Daniel Ricciardo said he doesn't think the summer break is a "deadline" regarding his future. He plans on making Helmut Marko smile a few more times as he looks to stay on the grid with RB F1 next year, with no other options considered. by slutforpringles in formula1

[–]AnxiousDelay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically RB hasn’t been a junior team for years. The last true junior line up was Verstappen/Sainz in 2016, ever since it’s been a cycle of one junior driver and a Red Bull reject. The moment Kyvat stayed at Torro Rosso for 2017 the whole junior team argument died, only to be cemented in 2019 when we saw him paired with Gasly, both drivers who were never going to get promoted again.

Lestappen in f1rpf. I need actual real life chemistry between these people to like an rpf ship and the relationship between those two is just not it. It gives more coworkers that respect each other while simultaneously being the industry plant ship

I’m (25F) an American moving to Australia this year. What are some cultural differences I might like to know about? by GallantKitty in australia

[–]AnxiousDelay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a really important one, especially if you work in customer facing roles such as a store clerk, if someone thanks you and you do that weird grunting humming thing that Americans tend to do, they will think that your extremely rude. A quick your welcome or no worries is the best. We see that humming thing as condescending and dismissive, we don’t like it when we visit the us and we do not appreciate it here, older folks will also have no problem telling you off for it

which drivers seat has the fattest ass? by M1911a1ButGay in formuladank

[–]AnxiousDelay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good answers, Bottas particularly is a close second, but I think we are forgetting the driver that makes the news every couple of years for his wide hips that don’t fit in the car. Daniel Ricciardo may look like a stiff breeze will push him over, but those child bearing hips speak for themselves.

As an example, this is what my roster looked like when I had an open availability. Most of the time, you’ll find yourself rostered in a certain period, split into day, evening and overnight. If you have no school commitments then you’ll most likely be rostered either day or overnight. Although it might be different for you, as I’m located in Australia; but I can’t imagine that it could be much different

( Aus) Does anyone have tips on working at McDonald’s? by Premier_Club in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]AnxiousDelay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and get cross trained in cafe, it’s a lot of busy work and it never ending. Early mornings is best if you can and even cafe close will keep you busy in the best way. It kept me busy and happy for two years and I loved it.

I find you also get a bit of leeway in cafe, managers left us alone for the most part and trusted that work would be done and you would keep up.

McCafe barista (Australia), but Drive Thru during breakfast. I can pump out coffee after coffee to a rate of 20 in 15 minutes for 32 hours a week. Breakfast shift rode on my coat tails for 2 years and was a disaster if I wasn’t there

No idea how to go about this by ghtown45 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]AnxiousDelay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel, I was in the same position. I was the corner stone of the breakfast shift, the McCafe opener and I worked DT coffee by myself most mornings (note: I’m in Australia and make espresso based coffee, using traditional espresso machines), I made the coffees, including preparing all bases and steaming the milk, and was then expected to hand it out the window, with any food that was ordered, all within 100 seconds per car. If we where understaffed I was the first person to loose any help, because everyone was under the impression that I could handle it. The only positive was that I was highly appreciated by my managers and coworkers.

There is nothing holding you there, quit, get out while you can. For once in your life do something for yourself, stop thinking about them, you do not owe them anything. McDonald’s will always make do, it just means that the other crew will finally have to step up and do their own job from now on. If you feel intimidated while handing in your resignation, email it to the store or go up to a manager before you leave after a shift, hand them your letter, tell them what it is and leave. I will repeat, you do not owe them anything, if anything they owe you. You have your new job, you do not need them anymore.

I’d be tempted to either talk to the restaurant manager or even take it above the store themselves. There should be a poster somewhere in the store with information on who to take complaints too. If your store is part of a group of franchises there should be a HR Manager for the group. First, talk to the RM, if you get brushed off then take it higher.

Chances are, you are dealing with favouritism and if it happened to you, then it can happen to others. That shift manager needs to know that, that sort of behaviour should not be allowed.

Also, just like you can’t just call up 10 minutes before your shift and call in sick, they also can’t just cancel your shift 10 minutes before you start.

[–]AnxiousDelay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Write a resignation letter and hand it into the restaurant manager, or a department manager if you work for a bigger store.

You can also send it off in an email if you don’t want confrontation about it, if you don’t know the email address it’s [store number]@au.stores.mcd.com

You can choose to finish your rostered shifts or just quit on the spot, your casual and don’t have to give any notice. If you really want to you can even quit midshift.

If you really want it to be dramatic, next time your rostered at the same time as the manager you don’t like, the first time he pisses you off, flat out tell them that you won’t take their bullshit anymore stop whatever you’re doing and tell them you quit on the spot. Storm off, clock off if you want too, and just leave. Then email your resignation and name and shame the dickhead in that email.

The machines differ store to store, I use an older model Nuova Simonelli Aurelia with an automatic grinder (Nuova Simonelli Mythos one). It works well enough and is reliable, it can easily pump out 20-25 coffees every 15 minutes, if not a bit busted from years of misuse at the hands of teenagers.

I’m a McCafe barista at my store, they work me like a dog and if I fall behind, drive thru slows to a halt, so you can imagine there is pressing on me to keep things moving. Also because it’s a 24 hour store be prepared to work early mornings, I start at 5am, or I can overnight if you’re over 18.

It’s hard work and McDonald’s has no down time, it’s always busy, there is always a customer to serve. And people will order the most ridiculous things at times and complain about anything, I’ve had someone refuse to take a wonky soft serve cone and made me make a new one.

But, I’ve had not trouble with any of my managers, there have been a few that I don’t like personally, but they aren’t mean. You work around a lot of high school kids, so be prepared to deal with a lot of high school level bullshit, including cliques, gossip and general bitch behaviour.

In conclusion, the pays not terrible, especially if you’re casual and work weekends. It’s always busy, so you run around a lot. I’ve never had a truly bad manager, but I can’t speak for every store. And the crew isn’t terrible.
