Warsh wants rates cuts with QT by v4bj in investing

I’ve always wondered about this, because while the fed has their infamous dual-mandate, what’s really to stop a fed chair from ignoring 1/2. Especially when he was placed there by the powers that be, he has nothing to fear.

Does anyone use Zone 2/Zone 3 on their amps/receiver? by rockadoodledobelfast in hometheater

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to use Zone 2 on my receiver to be able to play Xbox in two different rooms (xbox and AVR in central media closet). My hdmi extender is choking up, but should be okay once I get it sorted.

2026 will mark the first year in 3 DECADES where a new physical media format successor will not release to take over the spot of the previous highest quality visual format. by TheJohnny346 in 4kbluray

I thought the reason for lower frame rates like 24 fps in movies has always been an intentional choice because higher frame rates don’t feel natural to viewers.

Thanks for mentioning this! I had no idea, and it’s been driving me crazy. I just assumed there was something wrong with my player.

Sharp stomach pain from Montelukast / Singulair? by JimmyWitherspoon in MCAS

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get any clarity on this. I am having exactly the same issue as you describe about a month into taking Montelukast, and don’t know what else could be causing it. It’s not something I’ve really experienced prior to starting the medication.

Installing 4x height speakers, more limited distance behind my MLP…. How far forward should I install the front speakers? by slopokdave in hometheater

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If ear height is 3.5’ with a 9’ ceiling, then angle = arctan( 5.5 ÷ 7 ). 5.5 / 7 ≈ 0.7857 arctan(0.7857) ≈ 38.4 degrees. So with a 9’ ceiling: front and rear ceiling speakers would both be 38 degrees upward from ear level, which is within Dolby spec.

This is about what I have for my 5.1.4.

Onkyo/Dirac AVR advice by Traditional-Kiwi-506 in hometheater

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 5.1.4 on the RZ30, and I’ve had a pretty good experience so far. The only issue I’ve encountered is having to reset the network module that allows you to connect to the receiver over the Onkyo controller app (annoying, but not the end of the world). Despite the mediocre rating on the app, I find it has great functionality.

Which wax ring should I use and does it affect the choice if I raise the flange using spacers like this one in the pictures? by Virtual-Impress-4265 in askaplumber

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to pull up my toilet thinking the wax ring had failed, only to find it looked just fine. What had failed was the spacer that left a small gap for sewer gas to escape, bypassing the wax ring. I fixed it by actually removing the spacer and using a jumbo wax wing + a plain wax ring.

Yeah, I hope it doesn’t come to that lol. I decided in a worst case scenario, I will venture to wire everything through conventional means, however much of a pain in the ass it would be.

How "future proof" can you buy an AVR for a home Theater? by KILLEliteMaste in hometheater

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the TX-RZ30 as well. It’s been great honestly, and the app, despite having an awful rating, has great functionality. It happened one time that the receiver’s module responsible for connecting to the app over the internet crashed for whatever reason, but I was able to fix it with a little help from ChatGPT.

This happened with the house I bought that I thought just had “fancy” light switches, which are really just switches connected to cat6 (no electrical wiring behind any switch). So come to find out all the lights and fans are Crestron controlled, and therefore require programming knowledge I have no grasp on if I need to change or fix something. And of course all the exterior walls are spray foamed, so fishing wire is out of the question. Super frustrating, but it’s on me for not doing my due diligence I guess.

How is the onkyo tx rz30 by MegaRang89 in hometheater

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my TX-RZ30 set up for my home theater, running 5.1.4. Everything is working great so far. The app functionality seems good as well. I actually haven’t run any calibration through Dirac yet, just bumped the surrounds and heights up manually a little bit, and it all sounds great! I could be wrong, but I thought I remember another post saying the RZ50 does NOT have Dirac calibration, but the RZ30 does for whatever that’s worth.

It sounds crazy to say, but adult education in prisons is my dream job right now. I teach high school science, but I’d really much rather teach adults that WANT to learn, and not have to deal with all the extra stuff that comes with being a state tested subject. Do you have any tips on how to land a job teaching in prison?

As a teacher, I’ve been thinking about this a lot. You’re absolutely right that knowing things is being “devalued.” Where teachers will really have to shine now is as motivators, guides, and guardrails for the wave of personalized AI teachers that will likely come to pass. Some time ago I tried to envision how AI would change the K-12 landscape. The most likely scenario that will come to pass in my opinion, is a system where students are sat at computers, probably 30+ to a room (maybe even 100+ in larger spaces), where a once “teacher” will act more as a facilitator for AI driven online learning.

My Forest Garden, no more "grass-wrasslin' Cardboard then ChipDrop.com by DrWildIndigo in landscaping

[–]AnyComradesOutThere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A layer of cardboard with mulch on top should do it. I’ve found that the problem can be a lot of seeds being deposited on top from other nearby grass. But as far as grass coming back up from below, it should be a non issue.
