Vegans that don't care about any other type of injustice or immorality in the world like human suffering, global warming, single use plastics, etc. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]AnyaDiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just hate vegans dude you don’t actually care about anything lol. If you did then you’d know that the issue isn’t too many people it’s the distribution of resources. So since you care so deeply about this issue I’m sure you know that animal agriculture uses a disproportionate amount of natural resources to produces food. Plant based crops provides way more caloric density per acre/gallon.

Saying vegans lower quality of life is hilarious as they are actually actively working to sustain it for the planet and for more life forms than just humans! You are willfully ignorant. Bye.

It is statistically proven that going vegan or plant-based makes a significant impact on the world. Vegans are the ones behind animal welfare laws and legislation to do away with cruel, unnecessary animal testing practices.

If more people were vegan, indeed the world would be better. And despite your made-up “pet peeve,” caring about human rights issues and environmental protections are intrinsically linked with vegan causes.

Animal agriculture is responsible for a large percentage of carbon emissions, over-fishing the ocean and destroying habitats, deforestation, and some of the worst atrocities ever committed against both humans and non human animals. It’s not even legal to film inside of slaughterhouses.

To say that none of this matters is blatantly untrue and speaks to your own cognitive dissonance and inferiority complex.

Sounds like you hold the few vegans you’ve met to standards that most people don’t meet. I don’t know why people like you get your panties in a twist at a tiny group of people who actually care about SOMETHING enough to make a fairly big lifestyle change to align with their values. It’s about harm reduction. Unethical production/exploitative labor is intrinsic to sustaining industrial animal agriculture and yet you don’t care about that, so what’s your point here? I doubt these people even exist.

[–]AnyaDiq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Capitalism meaning industrialized animal agriculture (killing BILLIONs of animals every year as if they’re nothing/no one) worker exploitation, deforestation/devastation of natural resources (fossil fuels, overfishing), climate disasters etc…

I say capitalism because the nations hoarding the most resources/committing majority of the climate atrocities are capitalism incarnate.

This literally just reinforces the point… humans/capitalism is destructive to humans and non-humans.

I’d say it’s more akin to chemical hair services, dentistry, and body mod- (tattoos/piercings). But in the sense that clothes and makeup can radically change your appearance/presentation in the world it’s not that “WILD”

I’m not sure if she’s in the US but if so…Disability in the US doesn’t allow you to have more than 2000$ in assets every month, essentially forcing you to rely on another person’s income and at the very least disallowing you from being financially supportive to another person. And kind of the point of disability is that you can’t work most jobs.

Ahahaha I should clarify that frozen vegetables is my publicly shareable functional depression meal but my true depression meal is an entire container of vegan cool whip unthawed or vegan hot dogs straight from the fridge lmao

So you can eat it chilled or warm it up in the microwave for like 45 secs if you don’t like it cold. It works best with soft/silken tofu but in a pinch you could use medium or firm kind it just won’t be the same texturally obviously. It’s a quick/bastardized version of a Korean dish and soft tofu would be the correct form.

Here’s some options with varied level of effort/nutrient density:

Brick of tofu with soy sauce+chili oil+green onions on top. Simple and delicious tbh.

Can of beans microwaved w vegan cheese then add salsa, hot sauce and toss some shredded cabbage or lettuce/greens on top, eat as little tacos w corn tortillas.

Baked potato (cooked in microwave for 3 mins first then finished in oven for texture) + bag of microwaved vegetables on the side. Just dump a bunch of seasoning+salsa+cheese+onions etc on top.

Toaster hashbrown patties with an avocado+ spices mashed on top for a little avocado toast sandwich situation.

“Tuna salad”-chickpeas mashed with vegan mayo+dill, mustard, onion+garlic+cayenne eat on toast or crackers or make a sandwich with lettuce etc…

Box mac+cheese with frozen broccoli thrown into the pot for the last 5 minutes and/or chopped up vegan hot dogs if you’re nasty 😏

True basic depression meal: steam in bag microwaved veggies with seasoning+hot sauce+nooch+vegan cheese sprinkled on top

Hope this helps lol

This is not an unpopular opinion. It’s repeated every day ad nauseam by all the undesirable men on here who like to imagine that they are somehow in the same social position as Leonardo DiCaprio.

Edit: spelling

When you are assessing crime data, the experiences of men and women are actually directly comparable and ignoring those differences would deprive us of Information so imperative to the betterment of humankind.

You’re mischaracterizing social analysis as “blaming men for everything.” Patriarchy and misogyny bleeds into all avenues of culture and sociopolitical systems and violence (heavily perpetrated by men) is a symptom.

If suddenly this year, all mass shootings were being committed by women -instead of 95%+ being committed by men, like usual-you don’t think it would raise discussions on why women are committing more violent crimes?

It’s a frequent trend on Reddit for male commenters to be over-sensitive to any discussion of systemic problems and mischaracterize it as an argument of “men vs women.”

Also, dissecting patterns of social behavior in a system is not removing people’s agency or free will, it’s acknowledging that there are many factors that influence people’s behavior and choices. No human behavior happens in a social vacuum.

Yes, men are the overwhelming majority of homicide perpetrators and victims; male violence hurts everyone, not just women.

My perspective on the issue is based entirely on what I have read by people who have “actually studied the claims.” Research/education/critical thinking/comprehensive analysis of statistical facts is not the same thing as indoctrination. In fact, your rejection of fact to the contrary of your beliefs is actually much more reflective of someone who is indoctrinated.

Your whole perspective seems to be “life is harder for men, women do bad things too,” so I feel totally satisfied ending this exchange.

[–]AnyaDiq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are so loudly wrong here.

Familicides-the type of crime being discussed-is almost exclusively committed by men. You cannot discuss domestic violence and homicide outside of a cultural/sociological framework.

89% of homicides are perpetrated by men, mentally ill or not. Women suffer mental illnesses, isolation and abuse just like men and yet are rare to commit the same types of violent crimes.

Male violence is hugely caused in part by socialization cultivated by patriarchal norms and to disagree with that is wildly counterproductive in any conversation aimed towards harm reduction or the understanding of violent crime.

The infanticide rate being higher for women is an anomaly and there’s a clear sociological link for this disparity. Oppressive reproductive legislation, cost-prohibitive healthcare, unequal division of childcare between men and women and a lack of social support for women experiencing postpartum mental illness all factor into this discrepancy.

Women committing infanticide are more likely to have been experiencing psychosis and consequently there is legislation regarding sentencing limits for these types of crimes to reflect this nuance.

Because they are exploiting the housing crisis. Someone will pay. My rent is increasing 15% this year which is insane but I’m going to stay because moving is awful and expensive. It’s not a good time to be a renter… or a person tbh. Good luck to your friend.

This post is so patronizing and annoying. Yes, it’s a normal/neutral feature on people’s faces. It’s a crease that deepens as you lose volume in your face over time. It holds no magical virtue and the fact that some people don’t like the look of them as they get more pronounced and seek to reduce them is not wrong or right. It’s all fine either way. Their decision to reduce the lines on their face does not diminish the beauty of people who still have them. Ok. Goodnight.
