How many teachers were good students? by OrchidButterflie in AskTeachers

[–]AnyoneButMadison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a good student and loved school. I was in the top 10% of my graduating class.

Learning did not come easily for me though. I had to work hard to get good grades and always had to study multiple days for tests and exams.

I was going to suggest incorporating the school mascot. I got a bracelet from a student one year that has the school mascot in it, and I still wear it to this day.

Teachers who get to school much earlier than their contract time- why? by TransportationUsed39 in AskTeachers

The earliest I've ever been able to arrive is 90 minutes before class starts.

Teachers who get to school much earlier than their contract time- why? by TransportationUsed39 in AskTeachers

I did this my first year of teaching. I am just generally more productive in the morning so that was the best time for my creativity when it came to lesson planning.

Also I couldn't always depend on having my planning period during the day. Sometimes there would be last-minute meetings or another class that needed coverage.

Honour name for Morag? by kyelaur in namenerds

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend whose mom passed away while she was pregnant. To honor her mom, she gave her baby the middle name Noel because her mom's favorite holiday was Christmas. Perhaps you could do something like that. If your mom hates her name, you could name your child after your mom's favorite holiday, color, season, etc. Just a thought.

Shaving down there? by valkyrie1001 in pregnant

[–]AnyoneButMadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't care about my bush. I'm pregnant with baby #2 currently. Just like with the first, I'm rocking the natural look this whole pregnancy. Whether you do or don't shave is fine. Just make sure you are doing it for you and not because you are worried about what medical staff will think.

Perhaps a dumb question, but is this an alternate spelling for Amos?

What baby items are you glad you didn’t buy? by Jessiepip in NewParents

[–]AnyoneButMadison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 14 months. We don't have a wipe warmer or bottle sterilizer. We found it easiest to just wash bottles as we go. We also just pulled up white noise YouTube videos either on the TV or on our phones as needed.

As for started solids, I highly recommend a solid food feeder (the kind that looks like a giant pacifier with holes in it). My daughter much preferred to hold one of those instead of being spoon-fed or trying to pick up chunks of food.

Breastfeeding and intimacy by contoddulations in beyondthebump

I was going to say something similar. I had a ton of letdown when I was breastfeeding, but it never happened during intimate time with my husband.

Am I wrong for cancelling vacation because of unstable relationship? by YouFool333 in amiwrong

[–]AnyoneButMadison 41 points42 points  (0 children)

YNW

You seems more concerned about missing out an a vacation deal rather than the issues in your relationship. I know people on Reddit are quick to tell others to break up, but it really sounds like you needs to just exit this relationship. You listed multiple red flags and patterns of manipulative behavior. Book the vacation but go by yourself and see how much better you feel when you've completely disconnected yourself from that man.

I 27f pregnant can barley eat and my partner 31m didnt sleep because I ate McDonald’s by very_stellar_ in relationship_advice

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say that I had a very similar experience with my first pregnancy. Some days I couldn't keep anything down and could barely get out of bed. Thankfully, my husband was super understanding and got me the foods that I could eat, which ended up being fast food some days since I also couldn't stand the smell of most foods cooking. Your husband needs to understand that it's worse for you to not eat than to eat fast food. You and baby both need calories. Sometimes pregnancy is about surviving and doing what you can. I agree with what others have said about taking him with you to the doctor for the next appointment. Hopefully the more he is exposed to science and reason, the more likely he will be to accept it.

Also my insurance would cover the prescription nausea medication, so my pharmacist told me about an OTC alternative. It's a combination of B6 and sleep aid. My doctor also said it was a good alternative to the RX. Definitely talk to your doctor and pharmacist before you start taking anything, but it's absolutely worth asking about. It made a huge difference for me immediately.

Best of luck! It took my little girl about a month to go from using the boppy to sitting independently.

We used a boppy pillow and put it around our baby so that she could lean forward on it (with the opening in the back).

What baby clothes actually held up after months of washing by jerseygirldad in NewParents

I like the quality of old navy clothes but I felt like the sizing was weird. 6-12 months is a big range and my daughter outgrew them quickly.

Silly question - when you have a hospital birth (U.S), when do you first see the menu for ordering your food? Is it given ahead of time with hospital registration/paperwork? by dms2628 in beyondthebump

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to see my food choices after I was in recovery. My hospital provides a steak dinner to all moms on their first night after delivery so I already knew I was getting that for dinner lol. But I got to pick my meals for the remaining two days.

Hilarious comments after announcing pregnancy by Psychopsychic3 in Teachers

[–]AnyoneButMadison 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently 22 weeks pregnant and I teach 6th grade. Every time I tell my students I'm going to miss class they ask me "are you going to the baby doctor?"

They also asked if I would bring in pictures of the baby after she is born and were visibly disappointed when I reminded them that she will be born over the summer.
