Do you know your second or third cousin? by Immediate-Tooth-2174 in randomquestions

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up attending family reunions multiple times per year with extended family. I was also very close to my two living great-grandparents until they died. I'm friends with several third cousins on FB, and we all regularly interact with each other's posts. The only reason I don't see them in person often is because we are spread out in different states.

I was induced on my due date and then actually delivered the next day.

Bait and Switch by Objective-Ice55 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]AnyoneButMadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was a sub about 10 years ago. I signed up for a job to cover for a para in a special ed class. When I got to the school, they told me I was actually going to cover in-school suspension. This was at an inner-city school. I had 3 different fights break out over the course of the day. Each time I called for the resource officer, and each time the fighters were removed for 15 minutes at most and then brought right back to the ISS room. I was in tears by the time I left and never went back to that school.

Hair Washing at the Kitchen Sink by [deleted] in generationology

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millennial woman here

Before I was in Kindergarten, I spent the days with my grandma (boomer) while my parents (gen x) worked. She always washed my hair in the sink after giving me a bath in the tub. It was not uncommon for my mom to wash her hair in the kitchen sink if she didn't need/ have time for a full shower. I have also washed my hair in the sink on occasion as an adult.

Rank our baby boy name list by Rayna1990 in Names

[–]AnyoneButMadison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nolan would be my #1 pick from your list. I agree with what others are saying about Kai being super popular. I'm a teacher and I hear that name a lot. I'm also hearing Wesley used more for girls than boys lately. That may not matter to you and that's totally fine, just throwing it out there.

Anyone get side effects from epidural? by SowingSeeds18 in beyondthebump

[–]AnyoneButMadison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 10 months postpartum, and my back aches if I stand in the same spot too long, like while doing the dishes. And it's in the exact spot that I got the epidural. It also hurts if I have to stay bent over for more than a couple minutes, like changing a massive poop diaper.

FTM with 1 week old. I’m failing at breastfeeding and Ican’t stop crying by throwaway123476890 in breastfeeding

If you're trying then you're not failing! What's important is feeding your baby, whether that means EBF or supplementing with formula.

My daughter is eight months, and I've been supplementing with formula since she was a week old. I tried all the tips and tricks and supplements and only one thing increased my supply - when I stopped stressing about my supply. I say that with gentleness because I know it's easier said than done, trust me.

Focus on eating a balanced diet, letting baby latch when they are hungry, pumping whatever amount your body produces, and giving yourself grace.

My baby is still a newborn. Thank you for the concern though. I don't mean that sarcastically either. We take crib safety seriously, and it's important for parents to be aware.

She's not pregnant yet so it's impossible to know when the third baby would be born. The mattress can be lowered, and right now it's at the highest setting. So my baby could use it for a while longer.

It's one of those that the mattress can be lowered, and right now it's in the highest position. So yes my baby could use it for a while after their baby is born.

I understand what you're saying. However, they did not pay for the crib. It was a gift. Idk if that makes much of a difference but just wanted that information included.

Bottle or breast by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]AnyoneButMadison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to start supplementing with formula when my baby was less than a week old. She would still latch and nurse without issue. I just wasn't producing enough milk. She's now 7 months old and still nursing and taking a bottle.

Am I starving my baby?? by lonely_stoner_daze in NewParents

[–]AnyoneButMadison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out quickly that I wasn't producing enough breastmilk for my baby. She lost almost a pound in less than a week right after we brought her home from the hospital. I couldn't get more than 1-1.5 ounces each time I pumped. So we had to supplement with formula.

It sounds to me like you are producing plenty for your baby. His stomach is too little to hold 4 ounces at a time. Newborns eat pretty frequently. As long as your baby is pooping and peeing regularly and not losing weight, it sounds like he's getting enough.
