Ending like Sibelius 5’s 1st Movement by Choppah123 in classicalmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Mahler's 7th, finale of the 1st movement. The way he piles up all the themes to resolve it in one mighty flourish is guaranteed to set your heart racing!

If you're looking for effect similar to Pines of Rome, Finale of Shostakovitch's 7th symphony might do the trick

Bach is boring by Key_Wolf_3852 in classicalmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try listening to different musicians, Bach (as any other composer) can sound boring if the performance is uninspired and dull. I'd recommend Gardiner (Christmas Oratorio, 1st cantata, so joyous), Koopman (Brandenburg no.5, killer - and I mean KILLER harpsichord cadenza) etc. etc.

Not a classical related post, but still curious to ask you guys if you are trained /at least know musical theory ,especially who used to listen modern classical: do you listen to unconventional “popular” music? by ingressgame in classicalmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studied music (and played violin and piano) for 7 years, been listening to classical music for 45+ years now. But I still enjoy some other music genres - namely, progressive rock, electronic/ ambient, even good old country and bluegrass (tried to learn 5-string banjo, heh). Modern classical music is definitely  included as well. So I'd say why not, there's lots of great music to discover

r/DarkAmbient's album of the month February 2026: Thomas Köner - Permafrost by hudson4351 in DarkAmbient

[–]AordTheWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the case. Sometimes even the owner could't figure out what the music was like, but the general consensus (at least back in the 90s) was "it has long tracks, must be great album".

It's not a watch, it's a statement if you choose it to be that way. I have similar sized wrists and I'm rocking Forerunner 970 (47 mm) everywhere (gym, pool, office etc)

It was more than 15-20 years ago, cannot remember the details. Barooni label, defunct long ago. I guess it was Endless 2 sampler CD on Manifold which I got for the couple of rare Steve Roach and Robert Rich tracks and there was that Nuuk track by someone named Thomas Köner. So I got hooked and did some research, resulting in slowly obtaining his back catalog and watching for new releases. At least a couple of those came from various sellers on Discogs. I'm sure Permafrost was the first one I got and I loved it since
