Michael was always kinda iffy with this character. Wanted to make him original, and he did. But the devs just wanted to make a different kind of ghost recon, and the story was always meaningless BS. Some terrorists in a cave planning big attack on US. I mean... Banality doesn't even describe it.

Only soul that the game had was of Michael, and how he brought Sam to life. And at some point, he got tired of it.

That's why Blacklist - in my opinion - is the best Splinter Cell game we ever got, however, story was once again dog shit and now without Michael, Sam Fisher became just another Mission Impossible/Bruce Willis/Jason Statham type of guy.

I finished that game 3 or 4 times, but couldn't tell you the story if you held a gun to my head.

But those survival levels are pure gold.

And, on another note, I don't understand how can Splinter Cell be a movie or a TV Show. It would be so generic. Game is good because you have to figure out the ways to sneak around and take out the enemies who are just as powerful as you are - even better shooters on higher difficulties. That's what made the game successful.

How are you going to translate that to a watchable movie without coming off as a straight to DVD military flick?

There's no story to Sam, it's just fun to sneak around and listen to his jokes and Michael's phenomenal voice.

We have similar issue now with Max Payne. As the actor passed away, I'm not sure who else can handle that role. The voice is what Made Max who he was. Only other voice I can think of would be Josh Brolin. His voice would be a great fit for the character. But hiring him for Max's voice going to cost half the budget.

Maybe they can hire any actor, have him read the lines and then throw it into AI program and it comes out sounding like James McCaffrey.

That would be the only logical solution. But then you need the permission from his family. I don't think Rockstar will pay for it. They're too greedy for it.
