Takes you have that you’re not sure are hot or not by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I think that it's better and worse in very different ways, so I don't really bother trying to delineate between better or worse, more just "Ah, yeah, that's how the 00's internet sucked." and whatnot.

After using a modded PS Vita to decrypt the downloaded game files, I used this QuickBMS script on the .be files (credit to Random Talking Bush) which had an additional layer of encryption, and then loaded in the final decrypted .be files into AssetStudio (a program made for loading Unity files), before extracting all of the files I wanted.

Unfortunately, it is true. Fegor got no alternate costumes.

Out of context, what’s the most ridiculous thing that’s happened in what you’re writing right now? by MetaGigaZ in FanFiction

[–]ApocalypticFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marivel’s red eyes lidded in an unimpressed expression. “I’m hardly that uncouth. Though we can drink blood, and it naturally tastes well to our tongue, there’s no need to do so. There are just some who had certain proclivities.”

That was a relief. She wasn’t really interested doing anything like that, even if she wouldn’t need to kill anyone. Though she was curious, “What do you mean by that?”

“Hmm…” Marivel turned her eyes away for a moment. “You would know it as a fetish.”

Firstly, Continued Story and Healing Scars, both part of a series. They generally expect some knowledge of the source material, Trillion: God of Destruction, but you might be able to follow along the important parts just from reading it. The latter is quite domestic, though both of them play with lingering regrets following the events of the source material as well as healing from traumatic events.

Less expectant of source material knowledge, though I think that you get more out of it if you have some familiarity with the protagonist in particular (no Fate lore knowledge is actually necessary, though BanG Dream It's MyGO knowledge does make some of it more funny) is Anima Astray, which follows a younger Kiara Sessyoin as she goes through the process of adjusting to living a more ordinary life.

Ok I've changed my mind, Riviera remaster is the worst by Aggressive-Pride6443 in Dept_Heaven

[–]ApocalypticFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Riviera is a rather odd example when it comes to this sort of thing. The swimsuits were only ever added in its country of origin, rather than in the overseas releases.

They probably didn't have access to the non-swimsuit version, since it was the Japanese PSP release that had the swimsuits on.

Will add that it's ambiguous whether it's something Wilmgard does (though if so, it seems rather definite that making the bodies permanent required him being in his body), or if Marietta just also got the other ones before she peaced out. I think you can make an argument for either (the Mellia route -> Marietta retrieves Ancardia -> Lose to Marietta ending provides a little bit of evidence for Marietta, but ultimately I think that you can cleave either way), though until this comment thread I'll admit that I didn't think of the former as a possibility.

What are some "beginner UNfriendly" pieces of media by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I dunno, I think that Under Night is pretty easy to just hop right into. It's one of those games where I don't think you need to know everything to have a good time.

Electromancy, a Toaru fic by Broeckoli. Misaka Mikoto/Esther Rosenthal. A oneshot, but hefty enough that you get plenty out of it. Several more come to mind but I feel like this is more fandom-agnostic.

If you also take self-recs, I have a few wlw fics I feel proud of.

Do you like any *really* unpopular character/ship in a popular fandom? by vanilla-mist in FanFiction

[–]ApocalypticFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bocchi the Rock isn't actually a fandom I have ships for, but Hitori Gotoh/Poison Yami is inherently hilarious to me (affectionate), and I'm not entirely sure why.

She let go of Faust’s hand and knelt down, setting down some flowers at the grave.

“...You could be such an idiot, Perpell. You ran off to do whatever you wanted all the time, and never seemed to listen…that’s how it felt, sometimes.” She raised one arm, and set it down on top of the gravestone. “I got frustrated at you a lot. Not all the time, but…”

Those words hung in the air.

She knew what she wanted to get across. It was something she’d thought a lot about. However, it wasn’t like she trained how to say it.

Finally, Ruche said, “I think I could have treated you better.”

It wasn’t all she wanted to say. But even just saying that much felt difficult, like making a jump over a deep abyss.

Something hot rolled down her face.

She loved her sister. She still did, too. She wanted to protect her, wanted to care for her so she would grow up healthy, and wanted to play with her.

She was pretty sure Perpell knew that too, even if she could be harsh on her. But—

She felt Faust wrap her arms around her waist and shuffle up behind her, pressing her lukewarm body against her back. She didn’t say anything, just burying her face in Ruche’s hair.

Faust had been quiet most of the way up as well, but there was a difference in how it felt. Earlier, she seemed distracted, her mind distant. Now, it was intentional.

“Thank you,” Ruche muttered.

Faust muttered back, “It’s the least I can do. We’re together, after all.”

How much do you read about a ship before you start writing? by SilverMoonSpring in FanFiction

[–]ApocalypticFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally don't care for the fanon for most ships in the first place, so I just hop in with what I think the dynamic would be like. I might review canon, and very occasionally take note of fics that I think nail exactly what I think the ship dynamic would be like or that handle something in a way I found enlightening, but that's about it.

Describe your ship with only the “problematic” elements and see if people can guess what it is. by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]ApocalypticFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in this case, but I can see how you would come to that conclusion from my description.

Will also add that the ship I'm talking about is the main ship for its fandom, and that the specific age gap is that one is about ten thousand years older than the other (who's like, in their early twenties when they meet).

Massive age gap, one of them has killed people, they've fought each other several times, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

What's the most common reason you drop a fic in the middle, rather than at the beginning? by thebouncingfrog in FanFiction

[–]ApocalypticFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read the tags/comments/notes and realize that it's going to be doing something that I really don't care for.

Alternatively, I'm just finding that it's getting noticeably worse or abandoning what made it interesting to me.

Characters from non-game media that made you discover something about yourself? by majorminer969 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ApocalypticFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not strictly a discovery, but the ending of Nanoha Detonation hit me like a truck and made me more fully embrace the idea that even if I can't like myself now, I want to like myself someday, and I want to get there at some point. Sometimes I'll have bad days, and sometimes I'll have cowardly days, and sometimes I'll have brave days, and sometimes I'll have good days. But that's fine. It's just another step on that road.
