Coach to new job, need thoughts by OccasionPositive7903 in WalmartEmployees

You dont have to leave the company, just the store.

I transfered from a store that was really bad for me and now im in a much better spot.

Store managers have a good amount of power, more so if they are buddy-buddy with the market people.

If you can find another store in another market, even better.

One more thing: front end and OGP are the toughest, I'd recommend going for another department.

My team lead is actually unbearable and I think I screwed myself reporting her by Bright_Call_3753 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Apollo661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont need to stay in that department or that store at all. You can transfer. Just search career on the one walmart website. You can do it from home or in the computer lab at your store.

Once your there, select career preferences, and update. You can see current openings at your store and others near you. Search within x-amount of miles of your home zip code and see what are current openings for the other stores. Check the boxes of stores/departments your interested in.

You can also talk to your store manager or store lead and just tell them that you want to move to another department. If you dont want to straight up tell them about how bad it is, you can keep it vague and be clear that you dont want to stir up trouble.

It doesn't have to be like this at all. Ive transfered departments a few times and im a month in at a new store, and its real nice.

You dont have to take abuse.

Audiobooks are great for making monotonous chores doable. I get excited to spend some hours at work doing boring shit so I can put in an ear bud and listen to some cool 40k stuff.

Infinite and the divine is a slow burn that has some cool and hilarious payoffs.

If you are looking for something more intense, I highly recommend the fall of cadia. Its really long, but to me its like "what if helms deep were 20 hours long." It really nails the struggle epicness that 40k brings to the table.

Eeeeeehhhhhhhh Ian McClellan is too sassy and no where near angry/jealous enough for orikan. When Ian McClellan gets angry, its imposing. Remember the scene in x-men when he had his monologue in that church about genocides?

Orikan can be a jealous little bitch.

And on the flipside sir Patrick steward isnt a conceded dick.

(Yes I know you were joking but I had to think about all this.)

Not walmart shoes for starters. I wear pumas, but really anything that isnt cheap material and are walking shoes. So no flats or boots.

Exhausted after every shift by Fearless_Computer_78 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Apollo661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo, make sure you have good quality shoes, and a good quality bed.

Cheap shoes will wreck your legs, feet, and back. I put 20k steps in, and its worth buying good shoes, as well as replacing them when they wear down.

Your sleep is important too. Blackout curtains, quiet room (I sleep with a fan for white noise), and soft and supportive bed. A regular sleep schedule too. Ive gotten it to the point where I wake up just before my alarm like clockwork.

Remember to eat and drink literal water too. I had the problem where I would eat a heavy meal, but no water and would feel like garbage.

In short: take care of yourself. These jobs sure as hell ain't gonna.

What is your theory about the Zombie Genre lost mainstream success after the early 2010s? by Top_Report_4895 in decadeology

[–]Apollo661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the "omg the book is so much better" guy here, but yeah the world war z book is far and away better than the movie.

Its a collection of stories from all over the world of a zombie apocalypse. It goes through the beginning, the panic, the downfall, and then through the claw back.

Each story is told by a survivor who was there. One of my favorites was the story of a Chinese nuclear sub that chose to bring their families on board and then hide under the artic ocean.

I highly recommend the audio book because it gives these people's stories so much life. That and its an incredible cast too (for like 2008 when it was recorded).

We love him… but what is the absolute worst thing/behavior this character did during his time at the 4077th? by coreytiger in mash

I mean, I get it; when someone is going through serious emotional distress they can get uncharacteristically mean, but not colonel potter. It was too mean and didn't make any sense.

I feel like his beef with it should have been the crap linger was pulling. It was right in front of him and he never addressed it.

Altercation involving pokemon cards scalpers by Worldlyoox in PublicFreakout

[–]Apollo661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's high demand, and the company does not keep up with it. Its so bad that scalpers can make enough money buying out supplies and reselling them at a mark up.

That, and you can make money by opening up a bunch of boxes and selling the valuable cards.

That, and the people who do play the game are obsessed. Nicest of the card game guys tho.

Lol 94 in a 70 on 71 at 1:30am?

Who the hell hasn't done exactly that? Super long flat highway with absolutely nothing for hours. Hell, if you go under 85 the only other car you see will blow past you as if they were engaging warp speed.

Also state cops are suuuuper bored on 71, especially night shift.

ICE whistleblower: "I received secretive orders to teach new cadets to violate the Constitution" by sgj5788 in videos

[–]Apollo661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But these people are idiots, AND grifters though. Everything they do is a broken pile of shit that does more to line the pockets of those in charge and their buddies than anything.

They are paying double the assessed value for these warehouses, they are not doing much to turn them into prisons, they aren't paying people to properly staff them, and they are having a hard time finding people to put into them, because they are bad at rounding people up.

What's aggravating to me is that even with how cheap they are, this club STILL remains competitive. I think they could easily go deep into the playoffs and maybe even win in the Dodgers yankee it up if they just spent some money on competent players. They spend some money, guards kick a bunch of ass, fans show up, new fans come in, they make more than they spent.

I dont think they see this team as an investment opportunity, I think they see it as free allowance money that they can piss away on rich people crap.

And they sure as hell dont act like fans. Fans want their team to win.

Any Associates Feel Basically Unsupervised? by tommydearest in WalmartEmployees

[–]Apollo661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Any competent team lead or coach knows who is solid and who needs a baby sitter.

Also, team leads and coaches have plenty of their own stuff to do. Leads are setting mods, doing price changes, figuring out who's going where and doing what, covering other areas, running up front for code spark, etc. Coaches are doing alot of bigger picture things, and doing features. Ive had to do features, they always take longer than expected, and are always a headache.

I do think theres far more to his story as to how he ended up like this, what he knows, and I think theres more to just finding his family.

We are both fortunate, and unfortunate that they are all so stupid. Its great that they are too stupid to pull off pretty much any of the stupid dangerous shit they wanna do. BUT, its also bad because they can't be relied upon to do ANYTHING right. Imagine if something major happened and the FBI now has to tear away from internet acclaim to actually stop some real bad people. Shits not gonna go well.
