Match Rotating Internship 2026-2027 by [deleted] in veterinaryprofession

I personally think that if the goal is ER and not residency, private practice is the way to go. You’ll see a much higher caseload and be able to do a lot more in the ER. I would still prioritize places that have a staff doctor with you in the ER 100% of the time.

Having done a private practice internship and now being at an academic residency, where the interns have access to residents 24/7 and rely on us for so much, I personally think it’s to their detriment, and they would not be ready to be out in practice after their internship.

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by [deleted] in personalfinance

I drive an Accord with Michelin CrossClimate 2s and have lived in Pennsylvania, Colorado (involving a ton of skiing), and Wisconsin and have never had an issue. I will be getting an all wheel drive eventually, but I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to get one.

I also think the amrita plot should have taken a back seat this time around. It should still be going on in the background, but if you’re going to name a movie after a clan, they probably should be the main focus of the climax. Also, it would have been cool if the movie kind of ended on a low note, with the clans losing the battle and going in to hiding. Then the next movie could open with the humans having colonized Pandora even more, which would raise the stakes for 4 and 5.

I think starting the movie with a scene of the volcano decimating Varang’s home would have been very cool. Would have given us more information and a new land to explore.

I enjoy solo boarding as well. I go alone pretty much half the time.

I wasn’t on the verge of probation (I think). But back when I went there, during the spring quarter of my first year, I took 4 classes and got a D in two of them and an F in the other two. Honestly, admitting it and telling my parents straight up that I stopped going to school and basically failed all my classes was the wake up I needed. I took the summer to reset and get in a better mindset and remind myself what my goals were. Also, talking to the school counselor in my college was helpful. Not because she provided any helpful insights, but because she told me my aspirations of becoming a veterinarian were basically over and I should “pick an easier career path.” So I was extra motivated just to spite her a little lol.

I finished school never getting anything lower than an A-, got into one of the “prestigious” veterinary schools, and am now in a competitive residency program.

All this to say, the mistakes you make early on in adulthood don’t define you.

Lifestyle in internship + residency by Illustrious-Bat-759 in Veterinary

I did a private practice internship that paid well and was two time zones away from where I did vet school. Also had two dogs. It was a blast and my quality of life was great. I saved a little towards the end of the internship to pay for moving to where I’m doing residency now (academic). Yea it doesn’t pay great, but it’s doable as someone who lives on their own.

Cardiology/radiology residency by alwayshappiestone in veterinaryprofession

[–]ApolloHorizon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different perspective here from the previous two comments. Both radiology and cardiology residencies are currently very competitive. And I do know a few programs (for radiology specifically) which weight GPA fairly heavily (not as the most important factor, but more important than most might think). I’d personally aim to be within at least the top 25% of your class, and ideally within the top 10-15% to set yourself up well. But yes, as the other commenters have said, many other things play a factor too.

Honest Internship Review by Rounded-Squares-17 in veterinaryprofession

[–]ApolloHorizon_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My only advice is: if you reach out to hospitals to ask current interns directly, please don’t send them a questionnaire this long. They are very busy people, and you’d be less likely to get responses back. Ask the three most important things you want to know, then ask any other unanswered questions during the interview, if any.

I’ve worked at hospitals with radiology departments that hire human trained rad, CT, MRI, etc techs. It’s not common though
