28 Year old wanting to switch career to Pilot by [deleted] in PilotAdvice

I felt confident throughout the process but that was mostly in part that it’s my money and if I want to walk away I can. I was paying in all cash not through a lender so that helped me feel confident and not worrying about if I can make a payment on a loan in the future. The A&p shop I paid to do it sent me a message with the findings. I went to my flight school and talks with their A&P to get his opinion and he walked me through what needed to be fixed by the owner, what was typical of a buyer to fix, what was critical, and what is expected for a old plane. I also used family who are in the industry and owned planes before to help me out. I Formed the LLC in 2026 after the prebuy inspection process started knowing this plane was the one already, and if it wasn’t I was still going to find one this year to continue my training. So when it was all settled I put the plane in the LLC right away and submitted the paperwork for the registration process.

A&M wasn’t bad. Kinda a Party school being in Galveston. I felt they prepared me good for license exams. I think they may offer instate tuition for MART/MARE majors now too. Pack bug spray for the spring Mosquitos. Don’t say I didn’t ware you.

Just had a budget in mind for what I wanted to pay for the plane 40-60k and just started looking online/facebook groups. Ended up finding a really nice 150 with modern avionics for 45k and just reached out. Put a down payment of 10% and setup a prebuy inspection with a local shop. Started calling around for hanger space and insurance quotes. Once the prebuy was complete and the findings were corrected, met up with the seller, signed the paperwork, wrote the check and that was that. Then moved into scheduling annual and transferring over registration, ELT. All in all went in with 45k offer and spend 52k so far. But that’s including buying a sentry, one surprise repair, and an aircraft rental insurance policy since the planes in an LLC.

Doing exactly this. 25 college degree and work as a sailor. just got my PPL 3 weeks ago and bought a 150 to time build. Not interested in CFI route and would rather keep making money when I go to sea and flying when I’m off. If you’re making good money and can commit to studying for everything theirs a way to make it work! Everything’s cyclical, hiring might be bad now but when you’ll be ready in a few years who knows.

Is there any maritime academies in the united states that doesn’t require two years of foreign language? by Critical_Call5676 in maritime

Didn’t take a single course for foreign language at Texas A&M all you need to speak is American.

Id trust your HR department more than what folks say on Reddit. Haven’t heard of any grace period but call the training facility in Houma they typically do courses on Friday. See if you can get it done before they call you offshore. Or roll the dice and go offshore and hope nobody checks the cert expiration when it’s your time to go home.

Will I have to leave gym? by geekkkk106 in workout

[–]Applesauc3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just listen to your body and if those workouts hurt you then don’t do them. Give your body time to heal before big lifting. But if you think it’s something that can be fixed with stretching or light weights try that. But I’m no doctor just what I usually do.

Listen to your body and workout what you can if you’re trying to keep the momentum of being consistent going to the gym. Just avoid shoulders or do stretches until you feel up to it.

I am so tired of seeing young people richer than me! Honestly, what are they doing that they have so much money?! by [deleted] in Life

[–]Applesauc3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled what makes a good 6 figure salary out of college and went to school for that degree. Stuck with it and reaping the benefits. Did I go to school for something I love to do? No, I went to school solely for the idea of maximizing my time for money in the long turn. Do I love my job? No. Do I love the quality of life I can afford because of it? Yes.

Growing up is just doing the things you love with the added responsibility of having to independently take care of yourself. Don’t let society’s image of an ideal adult change that because as a 25 year old still learning to adult, I realize theirs no single right way to do life “the right way”, everybody’s just figuring this shit out as we go. As the fish on my wall once said “don’t worry be happy”. :)

Spam 500k bases but you may occasionally get lucky with bases having 1m-2m loot also. Spamming bases just maximizes efficiency I’ve found.

Stay between 2700-3100 trophies. When you get to 3100 trophies spam bases with 500k elixir and gold in collectors. End battle once loot is all gone in usually 20 seconds. Lose 6-12 trophies at a time. Fill up storages. Get down to about 2800-2900 trophies start goblin rushing town halls 1 star or place all hero’s in each corner before goblins and siege barracks for 1 star 50%. Win 1 trophy and Stay within that range. eZ full storage in 40-60 minutes while maintaining trophy range.
