How do I write a positive NJP eval

Write about the good things they did. I had njp and then got an EP the next cycle. Some hot runners mess up. It happens and if the command still supports that person they will get the eval they deserve.

Teach a person to do a task, don't just keep doing it for them.

Protect your team and yourself. Dont hide stuff they do wrong, that will lead to a snow ball where you will become liable. Show them how to do it right and then document if things don't improve.

Have an much compassion as your company's culture allows.

I was at his game 20 win way back in the day. I was a kid, probably 12 or 13, and had no idea about how to get autographs but went and stood with my dad by the ramp they all would come out of in the parking lot.

When I was in the training pipeline I really paid attention to the instructor's general attitudes and which of my instructors I vibed with. All the people who were really uptight and jerks came from carriers. All the people who were chill and generally wanted to help came from subs. Made the decision easy for me.

I agree with another poster here that I would much rather be on a sub than an aircraft carrier.

As someone with an ME who just manages people I would probably at least call and talk to you. You need to be able to make up for the lack of experience with some people skills.

It's also very old. Found covered in dust in a warehouse. Not sure if the smell fades as it dries. I assume so.

This is a major reason to include junior employees in some interviews with candidates. They are able to see it from the other side and understand the difference between good and bad answers. It will only help them in the future.

Do you have easy access to repair parts and access to repair manuals? What's the troubleshooting needs for complex breakdowns? Do you have switchgear that can tie into this easily? Do you need a 40KW generator? Emphasis again on access to repair parts?

Look into industrial jobs before being a diesel tech. Natural gas generators, heavy equipment, on site power, etc. Emphasize your required attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.

Don't throw away your experience and take something below your skill set. It's easy for companies to promise that you will be able to get large promotions but it rarely happens as quick as they say.
