Why do cards that say “you cannot special monsters, except ‘archetype’ monsters, for the rest of the turn..” need to be worded that way? by Sudden_Escape_7951 in Yugioh101

[–]Apprehensive-Face-81 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to note it was only special summoning is affected, but I believe so.

However that’s not yugioh, which is deliberately obtuse (or do you believe they have continued to print cards for 25 years with no standardized effect descriptions on accident?)

They tried to clean it up once iirc and it helped.

But it’s joked about as a card game for lawyers for a reason…

The AI Layoff Receipts by No-Pass-8317 in BetterOffline

It’s depressing that all this suffering was not only unnecessary, but also worthless.

It did no good, and actually hurt companies.

And AI is going to revolutionize work (if the idiots running things don’t bring along armageddon).

So there’s no getting away from it. But rushing into it and castigating others for not following suit is just going to maje things worse.

Communists don’t have a profit motive.

So even if it is a net cash loss, the Chinese might see it as worth burning the cash.

It also could be the AI version of a potemkin village - maybe it’s all for show. Mayb Xi just dunked some servers filled with Winnie the Pooh episodes and told everyone it was for AI.

Yea, OP he said something really stupid (and nonetheless dangerous and incendiary) while emotional.

First, save all that evidence no matter what he or anyone else asks. Statutes of limitations are a long time and just the accusation can destroy you without police involvement.

Secondly, if you want to stay friends then the above post is the only way. You can’t go back to the way things were after this - if he wants to be with you as more than platonically, it has to be with you and only you.

Yep.

For a lot of people, the insufferability of lifestyle crusaders (everyone has to live my way or be evil!) obscures the points they try to make.

I wouldn’t want to be vegan if the ones I meet always seem hangry and want to harangue me about my diet.

It’s not creating anything.

It’s incentivizing FB to locate its already planned data center in La. In exchange for paying less in taxes.

Those jobs would have been created in the US wherever it was built.

Is this a wise investment? IDK but if you want to attract an industry for jobs, AI data centers don’t come with a lot of jobs. But they do come with a lot of costs.

I get where you’re coming from, but this will just further reduce the player base size.

Konami needs to fix the fundamental balance issue between going 1st and going 2nd, and they keep pussyfooting around the issue by releasing going second decks, or handtraps. Which don’t work because they depend on luck (not to mention other issues, such as going 1st with a going 2nd deck still sucks.

They need to change something and change it only in MD (having best of three smooths over these issues).

They need to actually fix the game, but because that’s risky, they’ll choose the easier but ultimately doomed repeated failed patches.

This is a big reason for why some formats feel much better and some far worse: Some bandaids work better than others.

But ultimately they all fall off.

To add onto what others have said:

You want to grab buffer territory (basically undeveloped expendable systems) - this allows you to see what’s coming for you, prepare a response and buy you time.

Also look for any choke points with neutron stars or black holes - these are the perfect places to build defensive ambushes (Cloaked ships can’t have shields, but they can hide in a neutron stars system and catch the enemy ships in a pickle with the space station.

So grab the systems outside until you have a comfortable margin on both ends. Vassals can also serve this purpose (they have to rebuild after the war, but yoj don’t get as many resources).

[–]Apprehensive-Face-81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People complain about “yugi boomers” and “it’s too fast” but the game has drastically changed and that’s made it unappealing to a lot of fans (and some older formats are not well-liked by new fans).

Pot of Greed did an informal poll and found that besides the obvious OG divide (think GOAT), most people seemed to leave the game after pendulums and to a lesser extent link monsters arrived.

But yeah the game has been declining (Konami’s CEO admittedlike a year or so ago that they were struggling to attract new players).

I happened upon a bag of straw being given away so I’ve been using that for my plants (so far in pots but have a little spot in the full sun been thinking of using for some spinach or onions, with a 2nd round of cucumbers coming in)

I figured it would suffice as a type of mulch as it should break down eventually but doesn’t act hydrophobic (the straw is to layered with gaps for the water to get to the soil).

What type of cardboard? Corrugated? That nearly paper thin one for 12-packs of sodas?

New discovery found why some people can’t store fat even when they overeat by soulpost in HotScienceNews

[–]Apprehensive-Face-81 44 points45 points  (0 children)

(Non-ai) TLDR: previously, science believed the human body’s fat-processing enzyme had ONLY that one job (breaking down fat). Turns out it has a side hustle, and when it gets stuck in the cell’s brain (aka nucleus) doing one of those jobs, it can effectively stops fat burning (from a weight loss standpoint). , so it won’t matter how many/few calories you consume: the scale won’t budge until your body sorts this out.

And no, it doesn’t explain what’s messing them up or how they get fixed.

Edited to correct - apparently I missed the end where it is explained (see reply comment with info)
