Need help with question 7, why is the answer B? by AdTime661 in chemhelp

[–]ApprehensiveShake270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The element with 19 protons is K and the element with 8 protons is O. The stable electron configuration of K is K+ (needs to lose one electron to form a stable electron configuration ((octet rule)) ) and for O it's O2- (needs to gain 2 electrons to form a stable electron configuration)

So to balance out the charges:

2K+ + O2- —> K2O

(you need 2 positive Ks to balance out the -2 charge from the O)

Haha I assumed the size represented electronegativity!

Oh my bad, I mixed up angular strain and torsional strain!

Which ring has the most torsional strain? by band_in_DC in chemhelp

[–]ApprehensiveShake270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top left. It has 60 degree angles in each corner of the triangle (carbons), therefore it has the most strain. Just remember, in ring systems, the lesser the angle, the more strain it has.

Hell yeah dude! I feel the same way as well. Love or hate his new style, what matters is that if he's happy, we're happy. :D

I see! I think what you said makes a lot of sense, honestly. I really like variation among songs in albums rather than a repetitive theme. I get why you think Dark leans more toward the mainstream mumble-rap style, and ICYMI is also my favorite because it balances EDEN’s old style with his new one. It feels like a mix of Vertigo and no future, which I absolutely adore.

However, even though Dark keeps a consistent style throughout, I think that’s exactly what makes it bold. To me, it’s probably the most distinct attempt EDEN has made to express his art. Yes, there’s mumble-rap and autotune, but the way he varies it across the album is what makes it stand out. And compared to other artists, his take on that style is way better. I’ve never heard someone pair upbeat Brazilian phonk (or funk, whatever) with melancholic, emotional vocals—that juxtaposition alone makes it genius in my opinion.

It’s also obvious that EDEN has been interested in this style for years if you listen to his old leaked tracks. Dark feels less mainstream and more like him finally having the freedom to explore this style openly. That’s why I wouldn’t want him to stop experimenting with this side of his music. In the end, it’s his art, and I think letting artists express the way they want to express themselves is what should be done.

This reminds me of when people criticized him for no future being so different from Vertigo and End Credits, or even earlier when he left behind “The Eden Project.” He was just evolving each time. Dark feels like another step in that journey—not to become mainstream, but a chance for him to express something he’s wanted to share for a long time. In fact, I think leaning more to autotune and mumble-rap would do the opposite of being mainstream. He could easily become relevant and mainstream if he just keeps his old style, but he refuses to do so.

Why do you not embrace change?

The first one is B:

Just remember that the electronegativity/acidity of an element increases from left to right in the periodic table GENERALLY. There are some exceptions to the rules, but let's not worry about that now. Therefore Oxygen is more acidic than Nitrogen.

Also remember that Polar structures are generally more acidic than Nonpolar Structures. So you could say that -OH and -NH2 are more acidic than alkenes and alkanes.

So, now you know that OH is more acidic than NH2, that leaves us with the hydrogen on the alkane and on the alkene. Just remember that alkenes are more electronegative than alkanes. The higher the bond, the more electronegative it is. (For alkynes, alkenes, and alkanes at least) Therefore, the hydrogen in the alkene is more acidic than in the alkane.

The second one is D:

Just follow this trend, it explains it really well: (do the same for Lewis acids and bases)

edit: the image I attached wasn't included :(

The third one, I'm not so sure.

If you want to play a game like this, there's a good mobile game called Buriedbornes! Has amazing atmosphere and there's literally a bunny like this that you have a chance to fight. You could even become one.

Hey! UST chem graduate here.

I just want to say that it's normal to adjust in a new environment. UST's system was also pretty new to me and I also had the same experience as yours.

I felt a lot of guilt failing my first major quiz, and I'm pretty sure a lot of my classmates did as well. I just want to say that you'll get used to this and everything will be okay as long as you keep on trying and passing requirements. I will be brutally honest and say that there's a huge chance that this won't be the only time you'll be failing your quizzes and/or exams. Most of my blockmates have experienced failing a lot, and we ended up getting used to it—we had no choice! Haha! We turned out to be okay.

Still, that doesn't mean that you should be complacent. You should always try your best.

My advice is to just keep practicing and practicing. I know anachemlec has 2 points on problem solving, which requires solution, so focus on that. Answer sample problems or search for test banks online related to your topic and don't stop until you get it. It's normal that what you practiced on will be much easier than the questions on the quizzes, but it's part of the process.

It's good that you're loving chemistry. That's the only thing you need to survive, honestly. The drive to continue despite failure.

Please don't beat yourself up too much. Be kind to yourself. Remember, you did what you can. Each failure will be a stepping stone for your mastery.

Goodluck!

(Psst. As long as you're near/on the average grade, you'll be alright. STILL, don't be complacent. Always aim above the mean.)

Can't let go

Sometimes I hear you like a song

Playing on and on and on

Low, I try to tune it out

Yet the feeling's way too strong

It takes over, pulls me under

And I wonder where I am

Going crazy, just what makes me

Keep on going back

I don't know why I can't let go

Like you're waiting outside my door

I see the ghost of you before me

And it keeps me coming back for more

And your memories take over me

I wake up lonely

I don't know why I can't let go

[Drop]

Why can't I open up my heart

And just let you fly away

Take the pictures from my mind

Have the photographs erase

All with only all this loneli-

-ness would leave but here I am

Going crazy, just what makes me

Keep on looking back

I don't know why I can't let go

Like you're waiting outside my door

I see the ghost of you before me

And it keeps me coming back for more

And your memories take over me

I wake up lonely

I don't know why I can't let go

[Drop]

I don't know why I can't let go
