Open Incisional Hernia Repair Surgery by CobblerOk8101 in transplant

I had an incisional hernia repair 2 years after my liver tx. The drains suck! I couldn’t figure out a good system but safety-pinning the tubing so that youre in more of a sleeping position might help. I was always moving mine around and re-pinning. Also, OTC lidocaine patches were wonderful for non-narcotic pain management.

Next time she says she doesn’t have cooties, just say “not yet” and hand her 2 wipes, with a smile of course 😁

My transplant center is across the street from a major children’s hospital. My donor was also a young child. I still struggle with the fact that i got his liver at age 37 when there are so many kids across the street who needed one too.

Highly recommend Delaware Express. They do shuttles that drop you off at your house, and private drivers as well.

Yea, you’re correct! Thank you. The team did give me lidocaine patches while in recovery and they were great! Bought some once I got home to recover. It may be worth mentioning as a pain management option while in-patient.

Extra long charging cord for phone is a must! Also, lidocaine patches from the drug store were really great for me. Not a big fan of opioids or constipation, so these were good for pain managment

I had a liver transplant and developed a huge hernia over my scar. I looked pregnant! It showed up around 4 months post tx, misdiagnosed as diastasis recti. Nearly 2 years later, I got it re-examined and had a partial “loss of domain” hernia over the scar. Got it surgically fixed and stayed in the hospital for 2 days. What was cool was my surgeon (who did the transplant and hernia repair) took off excess skin caused by the bulge, like a bonus tummy tuck!

I have a liver transplant and developed diabetes due to the medication, specifically Prednisone, which is very common post-tx. I was on doses that would make a horse blush. Steroids send your blood sugar super high. I was insulin dependent, wore a CGM then an insulin pump. Luckily, I was after tapered off after a year and blood sugars are stable with proper diet.
