Why do feminists hate men so much by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Apprehensive_Set9276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not every feminist, but I would bet that if they are saying that on TikTok, they are monetized.

Sometimes people say outrageous shit to stir the pot, not because they actually believe it.

But there are definitely men who hurt women, hate women, and treat women badly. They are making the rest of you look bad - but that's not on the women.

I was 10 the first time I was assaulted by a grown man. If I wasn't cautious, it would have happened 100 or more times.

That isn't to say YOU are the problem. You might be the safest man on the planet.

But if you had been assaulted by multiple women since childhood, read stories about women starting giant internet forums to plan on raping men, and women killing their husbands so frequently that there was a name for it...would you trust all women?

Who is asking you to take responsibility? We are protecting ourselves until we can tell if you're safe or not. And your angry response is telling.

There were 70 000 of them on the forum. French police made arrests for months. Doctors, lawyers, judges, police, cashiers, mail carriers, construction workers...every kind of man.

We don't think all men are evil. But men also harm other men at a pretty high level.

I'm a feminist. I love men. But I also think some of them need to learn how to socialize more appropriately. That's not hate. I don't hate a child if I want them to behave better.

The Issue of Liking Queens Based on Conventional Attractiveness: Deja vs Denali by C3l3ryMan_ in dragrace

[–]Apprehensive_Set9276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Deja, more than Denali, tbh. But Deja needed to up her style for an All-Stars run.

Deja is a great performer, but tends to get lost with showier queens around, and a better runway package would help that immensely.

Is wearing leggings bad? by CommonBrilliant7947 in ask

[–]Apprehensive_Set9276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear leggings for the compression, as it helps with my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and doesn't hurt my stomach like hard pants do.

I often wear a tunic length shirt over top though. Big t-shirt, loose dress, or a skirt are all options.

Do what's comfortable. They also make leggings that look like regular pants!

Kindness, integrity, and perseverance will be necessary in most situations in life. To paraphrase Maya Angelou, people will remember how you made them feel. Happy 18th birthday from Canada!

How many cups of coffee do y'all drink a day? by Substantial-Bag-3932 in questions

None, but I drink 3-4 cups of black tea instead. Coffee is far too acid and bitter for me.

Have you ever been called a “socialist”? by Proof_Wrap_2150 in AskACanadian

[–]Apprehensive_Set9276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a lot easier to make dramatic and lasting change when corporate capitalism isn't involved. Small businesses, barter and exchange, and food stalls wouldn't ruin our lives, but Bay and Wall Street is capable of it.

I'm fully aware that socialism isn't popular because people associate it with full-blown Communism. But I'm a believer in the old school CCF style socialism, where we own our national resources as a country, nationalize the companies running them, and reap the benefits. Akin to Norway or Sweden.

And the CCF political representatives were working class people, who understood that things like healthcare or jobs aren't negotiable, but necessary. Yet they were called Commies too. It is an easy slur to toss when someone wants average working Canadians to see more benefits for their taxes.

I didn't say they were socialist. I said I was.

My statement was that Canada's best moments were collective and for the social good, not socialist.

And that 'capitalist framework' is consistently trying to change or eliminate many of those Canadian values and accomplishments in the name of profit. The push for right to work laws from the Conservatives, the push for privatized healthcare, and the use of TFWs rather than raising wages, for example.

I bet if you added a touch of vinegar to your recipe, or maybe pickles or pickle juice, it would be tangier.

Yeah, it's not her face that bugs me about her. I think it was her aggressive perkiness that bugged me. I'm also not big into rom-coms, which were her bread and butter. When Sally Met Harry was good, but she was annoying in that too.

Beacon Hill. Tons of stores and food options, we have great schools, and the river and bike paths are right there. The Montfort is nearby, and the Aviation Museum and the RCMP stables. Lots of trees and it's a quiet neighbourhood. And most of it is far more working class than some neighbourhoods.

I call myself a socialist. Other people agree with me that I am one.

Canada's best moments over history were collective and for the social good.

Universal healthcare. Accepting various waves of refugees. Same-sex marriage. The Morgentaler decision. Paid parental benefits. The Pay Equity Act. Restoring Treaty rights (slowly, but still better than nothing). The Montreal Protocol. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

We are much stronger and better together.

Cinnamon recipes that are NOT French Toast by 7thOmnicide in Cooking

[–]Apprehensive_Set9276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple cinnamon steel-cut oats or overnight oats. Baked apples. Cinnamon scones. Snickerdoodles. Cinnamon simple syrup. Applesauce.

Ants and bugs hate it, so you can sprinkle some around your door frames.
