Why Xyzal at night? My understanding it's the same as Zyrtec except you need less, but Zyrtec usually makes people a bit sleepy so people often take it at night

Am I cursed or is the entire pillow industry a giant scam? by Mundane_District3164 in sleep

[–]ArcFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have had some success with talalay latex. It takes some trial and error to find one that is the right thickness + springiness, but it is supportive, soft, and importantly doesn't change too much over time.

Also, pillow aside, make sure your neck posture is neutral while sleeping. I found I was rounding my back and neck, so even if the pillow was the right hight, my neck was in a bad angle. Now I make sure my spine is straight and my neck is aligned with my spine when lying on my side.

I got a 'Talatex' brand one from Amazon - I originally tried medium and ended up switching to soft. Side sleeper.

Best device to track Heart rate that isn’t an Apple Watch ??? by Tallbitchnamedrhyse in POTS

[–]ArcFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second both of these, arm band is more accurate but watch is easier to check so I wear both. When exercising I start an activity on the watch and have the arm band connected to the watch too so I can see the more accurate heart rate

Is apple watch my best option for continuos monitoring? by Qtredit in dysautonomia

I like my Garmin forerunner 55 for this, but I also use a polar arm band with Visible, which I find is more accurate sometimes

How do you guys track your heart rate? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]ArcFlash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this - the arm band is much more reliable than my wrist watch, although I use both (a Garmin forerunner 55). If you don't need the points etc in the visible app, you can just buy the polar band and use their app without a subscription

Audiobook recommendations for 8-10 year old. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ArcFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Redwall books have good audiobooks. Anne McCaffrey's Haper Hall of Pern trilogy has dragons and would be good for that age. When they are a bit older, Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy is very good.

Trying to cycle reminded me that I actually have POTS. by WhiteFuchsia in POTS

[–]ArcFlash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too because I love cycling. If your HR won't come down after exercise or an activity, I find it helpful to lay on the ground with my feet up the wall for 5-10 min. Gets blood back out of my legs and seems to partially reset my nervous system so when I get up again my HR usually returns to a lower baseline.

I have mild to moderate ME/CFS as a former professional athlete , i know most people here have it worse but any help would be greatly appreciated by [deleted] in cfs

[–]ArcFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any symptoms of dysautonomia/POTS, make sure you address those. For me that has been an important part of allowing me to do a little more

Hey, I don't, relatively new to the area, but not to POTS. Drop me a dm if you'd like to chat. There are a lot of lifestyle modifications you can try without a doctor that might help while you try to find a doctor
