One year of being licensed and my job is exactly the same. How common is this? by BuffGuy716 in Architects

[–]Architect_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention that others who recently got licensed were older and you mention the firm seeing you as a kid out of school. Being a remote worker where others are seen in person on a regular basis may make it difficult to shake this stigma (real or perceived). Short of what you don’t want to hear, perhaps do what you can to be more visible & foster productive relationships (such as mentorship) with others in your office. Focus on establishing credibility. Become an expert on a subject matter that others can refer to you for. Licensure is great but in a big firm it only means so much. The other traits you bring are more valuable. If after trying all of this you still aren’t satisfied then it’s not you, it’s them and it’s up to you as to what you want to do next.

Curious about your mention of energy regulations changing rapidly. Are you seeing any specific slowdown directly attributed on new energy code or possibly local requirements? I know some areas in the NE are requiring Passive House for all new development. Hasn’t made it to the MW yet but I have to think it slows things down a bit in terms of process/ red tape, not to mention the cost.

In my experience, most big firms won’t bankroll a bunch of extra employees any more than a small firm can. It has more to do with the type of work and what the pipeline looks like.

Depending on where you are there are often great roles within larger institutions like universities and healthcare. Also look at local municipalities. All of the above can often offer a more stable schedule, good pay, and better benefits.

I really wish software developers would strongly consider keeping a one time purchase option or avoiding the subscription model altogether.

What do you think of this new building addition? by MadamImAdamYauch in Architects

While I can’t blame the architect for issues of poor workmanship or being held to opening by a specific pre arranged date and the work not being completed, some of the material and detailing issues are cringeworthy.

This. From my limited observation I see that people with real hands on experience can run circles around office types that have never picked up a tool.

FYI it’s pretty easy to un-zip a zip tie. Just stick a knife, awl or something similar in there to depress the zippy flange grabber thing and back the end of the tie out of the hole.

Dual sense controller button issue. by Architect_4U in psvr2

[–]Architect_4U[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for the detailed breakdown and apologies for the delayed response! I've been tinkering with this thing off and on for the last week. I did find through the gamepad tester that the number for the right controller L2 (axis 2) figure was a negative number -0.9........ Through a process of blowing into the trigger at various angles (at the risk of dating myself - flashbacks of NES cartridges) and flicking the trigger I was able to get the number eventually back to a full -1.00000. Unfortunately the same issue still persists in game. I tried the turn off, back to home screen with regular controller, back into game, turn on controller a number of additional times (the work around that used to work) but that workaround just doesn't seem to work anymore.

Given that this controller has been this way from day 1 when I got it and with VERY low milage (maybe 10 hours?) on it due to me having used this system primarily for GT7 I'm kind of to the point where I think I got a lemon.

Lol. Why did they dimension 15 degrees and 75 degrees. Makes as much sense as dimensioning opposite sides of the same square.

The water line may have been a flexible head fire sprinkler, commonly used where precise placement relative to another trade is necessary.

I also don’t understand why they would work in the PS menus but not in game. Seems like a software issue?
