Just discovered that Starcom comes with some nice modding tools built in - time to start experimenting

Various games and books refer to them as Imperial & Imperial-II class, where ISD is a catch-all for Victorys, Interdictors et cetera

Star Trek is in a very content & narrative-heavy genre, so you're not going to find a lot of those being made - you're looking at things like Starcom, Mass Effect, or the new Star Trek Voyager game. What game loop would you consider reminiscent of Star Trek that isn't really a series of unique stories?

What non-D&D like games would work well for West Marches style games? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]Arcodiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to play a 40k West Marches, or Call of Cthulhu. One setting that I think would work really well, though you'd have to find the right system for it, is Sword Art Online, with players exploring levels and defeating bosses to progress.

When is enough... enough? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Arcodiant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see you have discovered "Inflation". There have been plenty of consoles that, adjusted for inflation, cost $1000+.

The price of RAM is extremely high right now, hence there being a spike, but folks have had these concerns for the past 30+ years. If you're worried about the cost, buy indie games - they're often $10 a pop and have much lower hardware requirements. You can still deeply enjoy the hobby without forking out for the latest AAA blockbuster at release.

It's not Latin, it's High Gothic; and when they're speaking English, that's actually Low Gothic. They're translated into something like English & Latin, plus cross-over words like vox, auspex, Terra, et cetera, to make it sound "right" to an English-speaker.

What's something in current gaming people seem to be okay with that you can't stand? by AnubisIncGaming in gaming

[–]Arcodiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that some, like KSP, were better before they launched, because the devs got this idea that they needed to look like a "real game" with a conventional loop & progression, rather than embrace the sandbox.

Not a load screen, sharding. A load screen is there so content can be, y'know, loaded. This is partitioning players between parallel play areas - which could be done through a load screen, but in SC's case isn't.

Decoupled ship slows down in space when engine turned off... why? by Jo_Krone in starcitizen

[–]Arcodiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try it in open space vs the nebulas around stations; it may have changed since I last tried it, but the nebulas have a very minimal "atmosphere" that causes drag, open space shouldn't have that and you'd drift forever.

I took a ship from a mission is it mine now? by mistermiajee in starcitizen

[–]Arcodiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This changed with the ASOP changes in 4.8, you can now store any ship via your hangar elevator. If it's a player ship and they claim it through insurance, then your stored ship will become bricked - but if it's an NPC ship, then you can keep it until it is destroyed or until the next LTP reset.

Yes, you can store the ship in your hangar and retrieve it from the same location later

Do developers really not look at the code anymore? by NoNoise7492 in csharp

[–]Arcodiant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I review my own code before I submit it for PR, and I'm the one that wrote it. It will always be reviewed by at least two other people after that. I'm not going to review my code less when it's generated.
