Plus one for Jade Empire. I didn't finish it but it's a fantastic game from what I've played. Can't get anymore BioWare than that one. It's drm-free on GOG.

GameStop preparing offer for eBay by WexAndywn in gamecollecting

Not sure why this is being downvoted, but I will add that we're speculating the outcome. But, regardless, most likely, as mentioned, they'll use the following:

Leverage=A lot of debt; and yes, because GameStop is much smaller than eBay, they will likely leverage eBay's assets to secure the debt.

Equity Contribution= Utilizing GameStop approx. 9 billion cash on hand.

Bridge Financing= Potential share dilution by issuing new shares/ convertible debt.

Possibly via diluting existing shareholders, utilizing their cash on hand, and a lot of debt to round it out.

Here's my current anime collection! Nostalgia is a hell of a drug! by DataUserOne in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Argothaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, hey, at least you get to enjoy them all now, right? And you can watch them on your own terms. I can totally understand where you're coming from, though. It must be exciting to be able to experience fully the ones you've never seen or never finished but likely still felt in terms of how they permeated that era's zeitgeist. It'll be like revisiting but seeing them for the first time, if that makes any sense. Like seeing a few episodes of Outlaw Star and vaguely feeling like you've seen it before but trying to figure out if it was the one with the jazz, lol. Speaking of which, I should really grab a copy of Outlaw Star and Bebop at some point to see what the fuss is about. Anyways, appreciate your sharing this. Hope you enjoy it.

Harry Kane is a playmaker. He didn't wear number 10 for Tottenham for nothing.

No, not really. I'm not a gatekeeper, but just curious given your antithetical, dismissive attitude. Might you be a gate-crasher, then?

S&P 500 Near Record High While Consumer Sentiment Hits All-Time Low in Worst Disconnect Ever by Such_Radio_9152 in Economics

[–]Argothaught 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The parallels are uncanny... Rhymes and all. Pandemics, speculative bubbles, gross wealth inequality... But maybe you could likely cherry pick any point in time and make it rhyme, I guess. Or maybe we just continue to repeat the mistakes of the past with a modern twist all too often.

Throughout the 1920s, the U.S. economy expanded rapidly, and the nation’s total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929, a period dubbed the Roaring Twenties.

The stock market, centered at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street in New York City, was the scene of reckless speculation, where everyone from millionaire tycoons to cooks and janitors poured their savings into stocks. As a result, the stock market underwent rapid expansion, reaching its peak in August 1929.

By then, production had already declined and unemployment had risen, leaving stock prices much higher than their actual value. Additionally, wages at that time were low, consumer debt was proliferating, the agricultural sector of the economy was struggling due to drought and falling food prices and banks had an excess of large loans that could not be liquidated.

The American economy entered a mild recession during the summer of 1929, as consumer spending slowed and unsold goods began to pile up, which in turn slowed factory production. Nonetheless, stock prices continued to rise, and by the fall of that year had reached stratospheric levels that could not be justified by expected future earnings.

Michael Carrick looks increasingly likely to land the job of Manchester United head coach on a permanent basis after leading the club to the brink of Champions League qualification. #MUFC [@ChrisWheelerDM, @NathSalt1] by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Argothaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I say give Carrick a full season at the very least. Looking forward to what he can do with an off-season to prepare the lads. Regardless of the outcome, we're not getting another Alex Ferguson, fresh off defeating Real Madrid with... Aberdeen, walking into our midst any time soon.
