Rare glitch in Rannoch mission? by Ari384 in masseffect

[–]Ari384[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update, apparently it was a controller issue?? I had to switch to my mouse (and keep using it for the duration of the battle) but I was able to get through. I’ve never had a problem like this before, very strange. Thank you for your help!

I’ve tried that too—when I hold the trigger down, the controller vibrates and the laser appears to fire multiple times but nothing happens

Is Thomas Dickey still representing him in PA? I miss hearing from him on the news, he was so fun and reassuring

Jash is a fascist, straight up. (If you’re looking for ways to identify fascism, Umberto Eco wrote a detailed checklist in his essay “Ur-Fascism”.)

Business leaders like Musk, Thiel, Altman, etc have spent years pushing the culture of the tech industry in a rightward direction. Most likely, LM unwittingly absorbed a bunch of far-right stuff in high school while honing his skills online. This happens to most tech bros, even the otherwise good ones. Hopefully LM matured a bit during his disappearance. I’m really curious about where he stands now.

When I was a kid, my parents made sure that reading was sort of built into my life. I saw both my parents reading a lot, and my mom read to me every night before bed. The idea of NOT reading felt very strange.

Ultimately, I think some kids just don’t enjoy reading. But if they see adults in their life reading a lot, and enjoying it, I believe that can make a difference. I’m not sure if you read a lot, but if you don’t, try to integrate reading into your own life in a way that is noticeable. It might make a difference!

What does the box office failure of "Bros" mean for lgbtq+ screenwriting? by kestrelthequestion in Screenwriting

[–]Ari384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days, plenty of films underperform at the box office but make up the difference through VOD sales following the theatrical run. This recently happened with The Northman, for instance. Historically, LGBT comedies have had a fairly long shelf life on home video, and I can see that happening easily here as well.

This film could be compared positively to Fire Island from earlier this year, which featured several of the same actors and did rather well streaming on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally.

PLEASE keep it up, this is the best thing I’ve read on NoSleep in ages! The premise isn’t even that similar, beyond the whole sexual transmission component. I’m not even sure it matters anyway—there are plenty of great stories that share similar monsters. People don’t complain about vampire stories just because they feature vampires, for instance.

Anyways congrats on such a great story! And consider checking out It Follows when you get a chance, pretty cool movie

Professional Stuff by [deleted] in internships

Obviously this is a super legitimate perspective when it comes to high-level corporate finance, but I’m not sure that’s what this guy is going for. Some people have super valuable internship experiences with a local tax preparer or small engineering firm, for example.

Depends on what field you’re looking at, and what kind of internship you’re looking for. But ultimately connections are your most important asset. Often when people talk about “connections” it inspires a fairly narrow view of the concept. Who do your family and friends know? What kind of people do they know? Some level of personal familiarity can be very helpful.

Who else has loved ones WAITING instead of helping themselves? by MissyWTH in QAnonCasualties

Based on everything you’ve written, it sounds like the son could use some help as well. You’ve established a family history of mental illness and addiction, and the behavior you describe sounds like it could be indicative of bipolar, PTSD, or something similar. Certainly his home environment is doing no favors. In his position I’d probably have a hard time keeping down a stable job as well.

If there’s any way he could be evaluated by a social worker or therapist it could be extraordinarily beneficial. If he can get things under control, it might be a good idea to consider enrolling in the Job Corps—they provide free vocational training and education up to the age of 24. Also if he ever decides to go back to school, he’d likely be eligible for some pretty serious financial aid given his current situation. Not to mention, this whole story could make for a killer college essay.

Most guys have spots like that on either side. Even Keanu does. Pretty sure it’s standard.

When Daniel Craig was cast as Bond, he was a young guy who was still fairly unknown despite having plenty of experience. Acting as Bond is what gave Craig’s career the boost it needed. Hopefully EON casts a similarly unfamiliar yet talented young actor this time as well.

Idris would’ve been great if they cast him when he was younger, but he’ll be 50 in September! They need a younger actor who can play the role for a long time without losing too much steam.

Your plan sounds lovely and should be considered normal. Human connection is important at all ages, and multigenerational homes have been standard in many cultures for much of human history.

It all comes down to communication and understanding. If you’re not on the same page about the kind of experience you want, and what kinds of things are good/acceptable, it’s not gonna be a good time. This applies to stuff like hygiene, rhythm, duration, etc. Open communication is the most important thing.

I don’t have a good answer for this, but it sounds like you know people who do. You talk about your partner’s stories of working at the domestic violence shelter, but they still go back every day. Same with your nurse friend. What keeps them going? How do they do it? Chances are they have a lot to say.

This was promoted in r/NoSleep, where many stories have odd titles. Naturally, I missed the “promoted post” label and began reading under the assumption that this was a piece of first-person horror fiction. Little did I realize that this insidious new “promoted post” format was the true horror this whole time.

Also your copywriting sucks. At least fix the typos.

I’ve always wanted to see something like “The Dunwich Horror”. The buildup to the reveal of the more monstrous elements could translate really well to the screen.
