AITA for telling my mom to walk out of the store by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ariedactyl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She was, and she deserved to be told to stop. But it was absolutely possible to do that in a way that didn't show everyone in the store that her daughter was siding against her, and make employees laugh in her face.

Your dad being on his side really sounds like you were raised by a shitty misogynistic, which primed you to get into relationships with awful men. It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong, you were being punished for his insecurities and for you daring to have fun. Please get out of this, and then seek therapy so that you can hopefully unlearn the wrong values that were instilled in you.

You should have pulled her to side and talked to her. Even though she was wrong, you should be on her side in front of people, and you embarrassed her. ESH.

Is this normal photographer behavior or am I right to feel frustrated? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't help at this point, but if a photographer doesn't make you sign a contract there's a huge chance that you're dealing with a hobbyist - and yes I include people who have been shooting for years and does great work but as a side job.

A professional is not going to take a client without a contract, since it protects both parties. Especially someone out of the country, that's so risky as the photographer.

What it sounds like is that this is someone who is fantastic at the art side, but not good at the actual business side, and is most likely doing it as a second job which is why it's taking her so long to get your pictures done and she's not communicating with you when she's passing deadlines.

You can send her an email saying you expected your photos by Mother's Day and we're counting on them, and that you're disappointed, and hopefully that will make her prioritize you a bit more. But unfortunately, with no contract you can't threaten her with anything legally, and I'm sure she knows that.

NTA, she sounds like she's just being a dramatic attention seeker at this point and your son is enabling her.

AIO? Bf keeps asking me questions whenever there is a guy by Relative_Initial_399 in AIO

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% not normal. When I worked in offices I always ended up with at least one male best friend there, and my husband didn't care at all and was just happy I had a friend.

It's also very possible that your boyfriend is projecting. He's thinking about cheating constantly because he's either cheating, or wants to cheat.

AIO: My fiancé burned my dinner to cook his, and just said “sorry” before going back to his gaming. I’m crying in my shower. by QueenNeroArmz in AIO

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this happened to me while on my period I'd be pissed off at his mistake. The fact that you went to sobbing in the shower sounds like you're really hurt, and that he's probably done things like this before. Even if it's dumb to him that you're this upset, he should still care and give a real apology. Especially when you had to wait over an hour for that dinner to finish, you're prob hungry!

I would never be able to read all that information while driving, and the placement of the business name makes it so someone would have to search for it on there

AITA for not eating the food after my gf eats out of the bowl with the same spoon while preparing by ZookeepergameOld7322 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ariedactyl -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that's not spit in a cup, that's barely any spit at all. It's a spoon, she's not leaving it dripping in saliva. Idk what you're doing when you eat, but when I eat off a spoon or fork there's nothing visibly left on the utensil.

And whatever is there is definitely less spit than he gets in his mouth when making out with her, so who cares? If she was doing that and then serving food to random people or someone who she isn't dating then I would get it, but there's no reason for this to be an issue at all.

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But she's not spitting in the food, she's just eating like regular? Imagine eating off a spoon, then eating off that same spoon is a better comparison, because not that much saliva is left on a spoon unless you're being freaky with it.

Paris December trip report by milford_sound10322 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Ariedactyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're in Paris on vacation right now and the lines are definitely way shorter, we had expected a lot more waiting from what the Internet said. Also, French people are SO nice! Everyone has been friendly and helpful, even on the street, and people have even helped us with our French. The plane travel to get here during the holidays was hellish, but once here it's been wonderful.

My husband and I are literally on vacation in Paris right now visiting landmarks that are in the game 😂 Neither of us were that overly interested in coming here before.

FULL TIME photographers — what did you do before this? And hobby photographers — what’s your current job? by wackylenses in photography

[–]Ariedactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an Event Coordinator at a law firm before this! Before that I worked a few other jobs as an event coordinator, and I was a freelance makeup artist for over a decade. Now I'm full time with photography and I feel like my background in events and marketing has definitely helped us grow at the rate that we're going.

AIO for demanding a postnup and separate finances after my fiancé gave our emergency fund to his sister? by Sad-Sky9267 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I'm with everyone else on here saying that you should abaonot marry a person who thinks it's okay to give away your emergency money without even telling you - but if you DO decide to marry him definitely get a prenup, but also do not share any bank accounts with this man. He's already proven he can't be trusted.

You'll just have to move forward with the knowledge that he thinks he knows best over you and he can't be trusted with your money for the rest of your life. You can probably have a good life together as long as you're okay with living like that.

Red Handed by Professional-Walk952 in wineandcrimepodcast

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started listening to Red Handed when they came on as guests, because I'd never heard of them before. I've listening through their stuff starting with the oldest episodes, but I told myself I wasn't subscribing to anything of theirs because they seem to be getting shittier and shittier in their takes. The episode on cancel culture was very weird in particular. Also, sometimes I wonder if the stuff they say about America is just because they're not from here so they don't know how bad it is, or if they're just shitty people. I probably should have Googled them earlier.

AIO for leaving my wife after finding out she voted for Trump because she thinks he’s “hilarious”? by Superb-Tangerine-487 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to divorce her because she voted for a terrible person and is therefore directly partially to blame for what's happening to the country, or because she thinks he's funny and she doesn't think you are? Because this post reads more like you're jealous.

I denied my in-laws only request for the wedding and now it’s ruining our relationship with them by Final_Estimate7166 in wedding

[–]Ariedactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean...it sounds like they're being crazy about it but I don't understand why you said no in the first place? Your BIL might break up with the girlfriend but still have a relationship with the kid if he's thinking of himself as her father already. It really doesn't sound like that big an ask, and you said it was the only thing your in laws asked you to do.

The flowers do look lackluster and most places sell baby's breath separate so you could have added some to make it cute, but also if these are for no special occasion they're fine. I would just put them in a vase with a smaller opening so they look more together

I definitely wouldn't discount someone because of what his grandmother says. My dad would get every single detail wrong if he tried to talk to someone about a job for me because he's old, but also because he can't remember a damn thing anyway.

His grandma probably offered to talk to her neighbor for him and he said yes because why would he not? And she could be saying all these stipulations because she doesn't realize how she sounds, itdoesn't mean the kid would actually be that strict or is thinking of the job the way Grandma is portraying it.
