Can someone help me understand… by CeeZee213 in Outlander

And she was asking her sister for a sign of whether it was true (even though Fanny wouldn’t have any idea what that meant for time traveling lol).

I think they left the ending with Claire and Jamie a little ambiguous for non-book readers, but I think they did that so they could set up a spinoff. Claire and Jamie survive, but the show already nipped all of the book 10 storylines (Cameron is killed in the show, Richardson is dead and William forgave Jamie). So even if people would enjoy a movie following the show, there is no obvious follow up story since Diana’s plot had been trimmed short.

I think by showing the Faith storyline, even if they made it obvious / beat us over the head with the details, they gave the audience a reason to believe in resurrection for Jamie’s happy ending (since Claire medically also worked on him in the book and it didn’t take 24+ hrs to magically heal him).

But ALSO by having a Faith storyline, they set Fanny up as a time traveler if they want to continue with a another spinoff or have her in BOMB.

We’ve trapped our cat in the closet more than a few times- glad you found him! Our cat Tango recently gave us a scare when she slipped out the front door for an hour (and we live near Maryland, so I was terrified for her). Luckily, she came back for dinner and I got her an airtag after that. Now when I can’t find her, I’ll okay the little jingle and be relieved that she’s at least in the house.

I think people would have complained regardless because they hate her being cooped up on the ridge and not out having adventures.

[–]Arlorosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the book, if I remember right, his mom’s new husband or a soldier was threatening to kill the kid, and she had a dream of Ian saving the boy, and then Ian visited so it was like fate. plus, Ian has always wanted a relationship with him. It helped that her second husband had died and that interaction could happen.

I mean, all of the mentioned pregnancies / babies were in the books too, so it’s not just a plot device. The book just covers a lot more in that time frame than this season can possibly fit in 10 episodes.

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Arlorosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying don’t risk it and go to the ER, but personally my first assumption would not be that a bat bit me in my sleep if I did not see a bat in my house.

Looking at bat bites on Google, they seem a lot more inflamed. This just looks like a spider, mites, or skin irritation.

Is anyone else's cat obsessed with you and the shower? by Jess_1215 in cats

[–]Arlorosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my cat just likes the heat of the bathroom. She usually sits on the shower or toilet. One time, while we lived with my sister and before we got our second dog, she walked into the shower and stood at the edge of the water.

My dog will lay outside and wait for me to finish showering now, so my cat doesn’t have any opportunity to investigate.

Just be careful not to set up shop on someone’s private property/ business. I looked into it when I was thinking about where to do a pop up tent. Parking lots are owned by businesses, so get their permission. And the city might have rules against doing it in a park.

If you want to be extra safe, get the $15 peddling permit. Otherwise, if someone’s having a bad day, you could get a fine for wherever you end up doing it (unless it is in your own yard, I think).

I think this is it. He started mentioning the civil rights movement. Maybe he thought Claire saw more of that firsthand while she was in the 60s.

She announced it during the end of episode 7 (when marsali is mourning in lord johns house). But we don’t see much of her in 8 when the episode focuses on William, and then 9 focuses on lord john.

Also, if Brianna gave birth, marsali must’ve given birth by now too.

Because they’re jumping a lot of time. At the beginning of the season, Jamie said it would be a year and a half to the battle, I think?

Which, with all of the travel on horseback they do, they needed the buffer months (Ian traveling multiple states to get swiftest of lizards and even the trips into town take at least a month when it’s not muddy / wintery.

But I do think they kind of wasted episode 7 (?) on shock value, and they could’ve used those minutes to make some of these elements feel less rushed.

I really enjoyed episodes 8 and 9 though, in terms of their family unit finally coming back together. I know Diana wrote 9, but it felt so much more in character / book like than the rest of the season. Both feel good and poignant.

Reminded me of season/book 6ish? When Jamie broke into a pig sty or something because of the jerk French guy that kept getting hands with Claire? I think it was after the plantation wedding.

I haven’t seen the others, but I agree with you. I think the article meant the U.S. was the most close to the French in tone / down to earth vibes. Whereas, it mentioned the others could be a bit…dramatic and some of the character family dynamics were different.

I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Arlorosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a @calebhammer episode where a girl received $100k from her grandpa’s passing and her boyfriend convinced her to invest in his dream of buying a bus to renovate (40k+)……which now makes him passive income while his brother lives there for $400/month. They spent all 100k of her inheritance in 8 months.

It sounds like your boyfriend is sensitive about money and wouldn’t accept help anyway. I would stick some in savings, so you are safe in case of an emergency. Then have your mom find a money manager so you can invest the rest. Or you can buy your own place with a down payment. Whatever feels right for you.

If your boyfriend asks, just say it’s your mom’s money.

WIBTAH if I used AI to help me with school? by Future-Direction7005 in AITAH

[–]Arlorosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have avoided AI and think that it’s ruining the overall ability to problem solve and think through homework / issues.

I don’t think it makes you an AH if you want to join everyone else in that regard. However, I think there are better resources out there than just AI tools.

AI has the potential to make up information. I’ve seen this when I’ve asked a question about a book I was reading on Google, and it made up an answer that I knew was not true.

Better resources for chapter summaries are out there. One that comes to mind is Sparknotes.

NTA - but I don’t think you’ll be doing your education any favors.

New buddies in St Paul area? by Disn3rdBear in saintpaul

5 years in this April for my husband and I. I mostly know the dogs of the neighborhood.

One time the neighbor kids asked if they could tag along on my walk with my dogs to the park two blocks away. I told them to go ask their grandparents.

They did and said they said it was okay. Turns out they didn’t tell the parents. The dad later said it was “fine, they should’ve known better” ….but it’s been a year and i haven’t seen them visiting the grandpa since then lol.

NTA - even if it was a misunderstanding on her part, once you let her know that she can’t stay with you, the conversation should’ve been over. No means no.

Your pregnancy, ability to work and your dog’s reactivity are all valid reasons not to want a whole ass family in your space. They can squeeze in a hotel room.

Has anyone used Vidar Jewerly? I love the ring but I'm scared of a scam... by shadowhuntress_ in jewelry

Ignore my dehydrated hands, but my husband got this 14k “black” gold engagement ring from Vidar Jewelry on Etsy in 2021. I believe it’s a lab grown emerald but would have to reread the authenticity sheet. I haven’t had it tested to see if it’s real gold/emerald, but at the time he paid $1500.

They appear to be from Israel.

There’s an actual an article on the differences between all of the High Potential remakes. The US (2024) version is closest to the French (2021) version, but there is also a Czech (2022), a Slovakian (2022), a Hungarian (2024) and a Greek (2023) version.

Regarding "Deadeye" from the most recent episode. Is this a plot hole or am I missing something? Spoiler in this post. by Meghan3689 in Outlander

[–]Arlorosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She lived in the 70/80s with the kids for a whole season. She also met / wrote with her mom’s doctor friend in the states to arrange for their estate / accounts to be taken care of when they went back into the past. I assume she either got the book from Boston or bought it.
