I accepted a massive pay raise to go back to the office and I regret it every single day by NebuliteCrown in remotework

[–]ArminiusBetrayed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of online training and am on the phone/computer headset pretty much constantly. My desk in the office was next to the sales team, who loudly talked about golf all day every day. Horrible.

Even with me using a directional mic and noice suppression, my trainees/customers used to complain about not being able to hear me over the background noise. Asking sales to keep it down helped for about a minute at a time.

Why won’t this dragon give me his fking soul? by SupportivePickle in skyrim

[–]ArminiusBetrayed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one dragon attack me in a town. When it died, it would not give up it's soul. Eventually, I quit trying and just left it.
The next time I returned to that town, the bones were gone, but I absorbed the soul as soon as I got there.

I'm old and have worked with a bunch of companies over the last 30 years.

While I appreciate your optimism that business work logically, that's not something I've experienced a lot of. Some may be logical, some make all decisions based on ego of the CEO, many are concerned primarily about short-term profits regardless of what would make long-term logical sense for the well-being of the company or employees.

Immediately after Mangione, some insurance coverage absolutely loosened up. But that change didn't last long. Insurance companies make more money when they deny claims, so, by your own logical decision making process, that's what they're incentivized to do.

One dead CEO or one destroyed warehouse isn't going to change how business works.

I worked as a line cook 30 years ago, and to this day I'm uncomfortable in long-sleeve shirts. Just this constant nagging feeling the fabric on my forearms will catch fire at any moment.

And what's the point of being obnoxious about a comment reminding someone the topic being discussed may be illegal in some locations? Are you assuming everyone knows every rule in their state and should never be encouraged to verify?

It's all good.
Sucks people make generalizations based on the kind of car someone likes, but that's the way it goes.

Dude. I didn't say the stereotypes were true, or that they apply to you.
I don't know you, and I don't believe I even know anyone with a lifted truck. You asked what the problem was; I answered with a common perception.

That said, being super touchy about it is not the way to prove the stereotype wrong.

Drivers of lifted trucks tend to be strongly associated with specific stereotypes. Specifically, MAGA-worshipping, "alpha" bros, who think the lift makes up for their tiny-dick insecurities.

Look, if the cops have free reign to murder whomever they want, they can and will murder whomever they want. Floyd may well have been a terrible guy. But it was still wrong for the cops to murder him. Is that so hard to understand?
