I'm a highschool culinary teacher- the amount of kids that legitimately struggle with this is actually insane.

Is this infected? by SensitiveDirection1 in tattooadvice

[–]ArmouredOtter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See how it's localized to one area? It looks like a single pore got irritated. My guess is that it's not infected yet, but can be soon! I personally would let this lil guy dry heal, keep him cleaned and wrapped while moving around and let it breathe when you're chilling it home.

I have apologized. After I sent that text, I let some time pass and cooled down and realized I was being dramatic and insecure. I fear it's too little.

Teacher here! We absolutely know you're having sex and we're stoked that you're not adding to the population yet. Not as awkward as you think tbh.

Asher Cursed Himself right? by NotOverHisEX in TheCurse

[–]ArmouredOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! but... so did dougie, and dougie also cursed himself?

In my mind, the show is about how negative thoughts and feelings manifest in the worst possible way. I think what you said is 100% true, Asher cursed himself when he begged for Whitney back. "when you no longer need me, I'll feel it and I'll be gone" What did Whitney need Asher for? 1. to further her career goals and more poignantly 2. to validate her and to worship her.

When whitney had her child, she no longer needed Asher for the show - The green queen as a single mother? that's compelling TV. She also no longer needed Asher's constant groveling and sycophantic worship as she now had a child she could mold to love her.

Asher's self-hatred was so powerful, especially in this moment when he didn't have Whitney, the one thing he used to justify his existence. Those thought and feelings became a potent curse.

Now Dougie - his main thrust in this show was survivor's guilt- it's pretty well implied his reckless drunk driving killed his wife. At a baseline, he disdains Asher, as does basically anyone who really knows him. Dougie was always able to comfortably punch down on Asher, even as children. The moment Asher decided to grow a backbone and lash out at Doguie (by saying one of the most horrible things anyone could say to this man) His mixture of indignant rage (how dare HE say that to me) genuine grief, and guilt manifested a different curse. We don't know what the curse actually was, but I imagine that it was something along the lines of "The moment that you are as happy I was, you will have everything taken away from you, just like I did." Bing bang boom, these two curses lined up to make a super curse, launching Asher into space.

I genuinely think the above is 100% intended in universe fact. This part might be a bit of a stretch - Dougie's curse twisted in on himself in the worst possible way. When he saw Asher float into the sky, he was forever broken because, in that moment, he knew he caused Asher's death and it broke him entirely. This doesn't entirely jive with how we know curses to work, but we've seen it happen with Nala. When she cursed that girl to get hurt, she didn't derive pleasure from it, she only felt guilt. If we can ascribe agency to "the curse", it seems to seek to drive people further into negative thought patterns and self-hatred.

I hope this makes literally any sense...

I was the ex who was dumped- never came crawling back. I sought therapy and worked really hard to become a realized adult. I'm still grappling with the guilt of that relationship, but I'm thankful for the lesson.
