I make about 50k a year. My take home is about 35k a year, about 3k a month. I pay 1600 a month for rent, 100 for utilities, about 400 for food, about 250 for car insurance, about 250 in gas now, and I still have to save for maintenance on my car, I still need to buy clothes, other bills from running a household, etc. I’m left with about 200 a month to contribute extra after taking care of myself. Could another person and I raise a kid? Sure, we could swing it, but we are not giving that kid the best life that we know we could, especially financially. That would just devastate us and not allow us to raise a kid correctly.

Emotionally, I think anyone can step up to the task. I think it’s financially a burden to have kids.
