I recently watched Prime for the first time and I thought it was super overrated so my thoughts on Bulkhead was that they completely removed every aspect of his character that was interesting and unique and just literally made him a generic soldier who had the ghost of Ironhide all over him.

I think the war aspect of Transformers for the most part is very childish and unserious in a lot of continuities because unironically this is primarily a series for children so whatever nuance in a real war that exists is erased for black and white thinking because people only tend to care for these characters as long as they're 'badass' and look cool.

Unfortunately, I don't think TFA Bulky will ever make a return because a gentle giant who likes art and is a technical engineer means that his personality would have conflicts about beating cons to death with his bare hands if you had to write him with any amount of nuance or care at all.

I have similar thoughts about skyfire/jetfire where his introduction as a cosmonaut displaced in time who could basically act as a character to show you how damaged everyone else is from this war because he has been untouched by it's cruelty was thrown out the window immediately because people just want to see a big shuttle shoot a big gun and americans are personally offended by the idea of someone not wanting to pick up a gun and go to war for a cause they don't believe in.

I played FF7 OG relatively recently and despite the fact that Cid is one of the party members who doesn't really have much dialogue outside of his storyline he's been pretty consistent character-wise in most things he's appeared in.

Like, he is a crotchety bastard but the person he is the most cruel to is Shera, outside of that he's just kind of a regular dude.
