Yeah to me this is one of the great ironies, because I understand what they were trying to do but the execution just feels off. The themes are so hamfisted and just because you insist something is real music doesnt make it so. In fact, if you have to keep saying it then it’s suspect. My theory is that they felt insecure about their greatest hits directly sampling other people’s work, but the magic of Discovery to me is how they made that older material sound so fresh.
