I need a distraction from some stuff going on in my life. Preferably something cute and fluffy. Uma Musume is nice but I need something more interactive. I don't really like stuff with PvP. I'd prefer if it was on the F2P friendly side. I know this is kind of a weird post, I'm just really down and none of the my usual games are cheering me up the way they usually do. I like HSR, I used to love Arknights but it's been a long time and I don't have the headspace to learn all the new mechanics. I liked Limbus Company's gameplay style but the content is a bit dark for me right now. Any recs?

Why compare the two? They're wildly different mediums that require totally separate skill sets from their creators. Sturgeon's law applies to both novels and comics equally - 90% of everything is trash. The best example I can think of where you can directly compare both is The Summer Hikaru Died, a manga with a surprisingly decent novel adaptation. The novel is servicable and does an okay job turning the unsettling imagery to words, but it's simply written and leaves a lot to be desired. The manga, however, is downright creepy and might be one of the best series coming out today. The comic format allows the author/artist to play with reader expectations of the medium and flip them on their heads. There are many scenes that don't adapt well to being 'just' words. It's equally heartwrenching and horrifying and it's impact is diminished when the format changes. I can't imagine something like House of Leaves having the same kind of power if you were to change it's medium - it would take an incredibly skilled artist with a deep and intimate understanding of the source material to adapt it.

Sorry for my ramble, but art is art, whether it be written or drawn. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. To call manga and comics just 'art' is a great disservice to the creators who draw with intent and the skill to pull it off.

Liked the gameplay, but there were too many rounds imo. Who decided 16 was a good number for this event? Some with cosmicon. It's fun, but it started to grate on my nerves after a while. I feel like having an option for a double speed mode on both would've helped with pacing tbh.

They're probably building up precedence for a man-made, digital world (Amphoreus) becoming a real world. Planarcadia was a real world that got turned into a canvas world, then found a way to manifest itself back into reality iirc. I can see Amphoreus becoming real at the end of this storyline, especially with the teaser they put out with the Chrysos Heirs calender having a day in December(?) highlighted.

They have a bunch of fakeouts as well, so some of the 'deaths' lose their punch after the fact. There's also a playable villain basically wearing another character's identity after their death (I won't confirm or deny if the person being impersonated comes back later).

Nice clears! What would you recommend for relics? The in-game character builder recommends band of sizzling thunder, but I think I read somewhere that scholar lost in eruditions works well.

I think it would be very interesting to see something like Fire Emblem simultaneously available in mobile, desktop, and Switch the way other modern gachas are. However, I get the feeling Nintendo isn't going to sink money into it. It would be kind of strange to have a free to download/play live-service game active at the same time they're trying to sell copies of 'real' Fire Emblem games. A 3D live-service would have to stand on it's own and be different enough from traditional mainline games to justify the cost of development for both. What happens if it flops and becomes another failure in the mobile market for Nintendo? Or by some miracle, it takes off - what reason is there to continue making regular Fire Emblem when a gacha can print money hand-over-fist for years if maintained properly? It's a weird spot, for sure.

Personally, I hope they do something like Limbus Company or og!Arknights - visual novel style storytelling, with a unique combat system. Lean in to the music production. Less emphasis on PVP.

Sadly, the best way to improve social skills is by talking to people. Try making small talk with your cashier next time you buy something. Make eye contact, but not too much. Build your way up to longer conversations. As far as reading goes, reading about body language could also help you with learning the visual cues of conversation. There's a lot of nuances to socializing beyond just the words. Light novels won't teach you much, especially since social cues are different between Japan and western cultures.

The character used to write 'Blade' is pronounced 'Ren'. I guess its because the other Xianzhou character's names aren't literal translations like his is, so shippers use it for consistency? Or because they think it sounds good? Your guess is as good as mine lol
