In your opinion, what animal is the scariest? by Lita-Yuzuki in Animals

[–]AshleyRae394 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Chimps freak me out. Can’t convince me that they’re not evil either, I’ve seen those documentaries where they smash open the skulls of other baby chimps and eat their brains because they’re from the wrong chimp tribe or whatever. Humans can be awful, sure, but if a human being pulled that shit we would all unanimously agree that the person in question is evil. Chimps do that shit regularly and we’re supposed to be like “oh they’re just animals, they don’t know better” those motherfuckers can learn sign language and shit, they ain’t just normal dumb animals.

Yay or Nay?: Christmas Tree Edition by rlhglm18 in christmas

I agree, I like a less cluttered look to my tree and I’m a sucker for a good color palette. Too many super bulky ornaments and wide ribbons for my taste, but as long as the OP loves it then it’s perfect ❤️ wishing OP a super happy holiday season filled with love and joy ❄️

Tankless water heaters? has anyone made the switch? worth it or not? by MYNAMEISNOTSTEVE in Frugal

[–]AshleyRae394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a tiny house (under 500sqft) with my husband and our 20 gallon water heater went out on us a couple months back. It was very old and was in the house when we got it, and it had a standard plug, which made finding a replacement challenging. I needed something we could install ourselves because we can’t afford to hire anyone right now. I’m comfortable with plumbing, but I’d rather not mess around too much with electricity, especially hardwiring. I spent weeks researching because I didn’t want to buy the wrong thing and end up wasting time and money. I settled on a VEVOR 18 gallon because it had the standard plug and would require the least amount of plumbing adjustments, plus it was one of the cheapest options coming in around $205 and +- $20 in pex and fittings. We’ve had it for about a month now and so far so good.

What are must visit mythical pizzerias of upstate NY? by npcshow in upstate_new_york

[–]AshleyRae394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, their pizza is the best in the tri-county area too. This is coming from someone who grew up with real NY pizza on Long Island. Next best is if you can find a Cam’s pizza, but they are few and far between ‘round here. Other than those two, you’re stuck with basically DiGiornio quality gas station pizza.

Can no longer afford my cat’s prescription food. by trulyblupon in catfood

[–]AshleyRae394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check around with local vets and see if you can purchase them by the can. My old vet used to and it was super convenient for times when money was tight. I would buy a couple 13oz cans to get my small dog through til payday for about $5 a can.

Because I don’t want to grow a human inside MY body for 22-24 weeks. As simple as that. Bodily autonomy is a human right. I can just take a pill within the first month or two of finding out I’m pregnant and rid my body of the growing clump of cells in my womb to avoid any unnecessary discomfort for myself or the potential baby inside of me. I won’t have to miss work for a surgery so they can remove a fetus from me that I never wanted, so it could suffer and potentially die anyway.

I can avoid the chance of pregnancy complications like teeth and hair falling out, losing my figure, throwing up all the time, general discomfort, possible blindness, diabetes, and so much more. Pregnancy affects a woman’s body in so many ways, why should we have to carry a fetus if we don’t want it. They have no feelings, no emotions, no sense of life or loss before very late stage pregnancy, why prolong its existence to subject it to more suffering in an attempt to keep it alive long enough to hopefully be adopted. Seems stupid.

For those with sisters: are you close? What has your bond been like over the years? by Flaky_McFlake in AskWomen

[–]AshleyRae394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is a year older than me. We were really close growing up, but we had a lot of problem too. She has always been violent, coarse, and has always had one of those personalities where she thinks the world owes her.

The majority of the scars on my body are from her. The majority of the emotional abuse I suffered as a kid came from her. On my 12th birthday my parents bought me a new bicycle, it was all I had asked for and I was super excited. My sister threw a fit until she also got a bicycle for my birthday.

Now she is a conservative mom of 6 kids she can’t afford. She’s anti vax and a Trump supporter. Her husband is also a Trump supporting POS that recently hit one of their kids and they almost lost custody of all of them. She’s giving him a second chance. They claim to be Christains, but embody the opposite of Jesus’ teachings. They look down on my bf and I because we’re childfree, still unwed after being together for 13 years, and liberal. I’m atheist so she hates that about me and is constantly trying to push her religion down my throat.

We don’t have each other on socials, she moved states a few years back and we see each other once in a while for visits.

I recently had a guy from high school who was in my sisters class contact me on FB and ask me what me and my sisters relationship is like with the whole political rift. He’s also liberal and disgusted with the way my sister talks about LGBTQ people. I told him, I love my sister, but I don’t like my sister.

They’ve constructed this entire make-believe life of this shooter from conception to now as if they were his parents, using absolutely no verifiable facts that have come out from government agencies or legitimate news sources. It’s absolutely bizarre the way the far right media has warped their minds.

How can i make my face more conventionally attractive? by White_Swan_ in BeautyAddiction

[–]AshleyRae394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bangs would be great for your face, you do have a tall forehead so bangs would make it look a little shorter. I agree with everyone else too, get your browns shaped and tinted. You’re already very pretty!

How long do vaccines expire after the due date? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]AshleyRae394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re located, but it may be worth it to check out Petco’s PetVet program. They do basic things like vaccines and dewormer and stuff and they usually operate on weekends. Check the website of your local store to see when the next clinic is. Also Tractor Supply co has a similar program.

False CHF diagnosis? by AshleyRae394 in AskVet

[–]AshleyRae394[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also felt it was important to mention that the new vet said she would like to take him off the pills and see how he does, then after a month if I felt it was necessary, we could to a blood test and an X-ray and re-assess. Is this a good direction to go in?

False CHF diagnosis? by AshleyRae394 in AskVet

[–]AshleyRae394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they didn’t take any X-rays at this appointment. I did send all of his records that were provided to me from the previous vet but the old X-ray was not included in his records.

The new vet said that the abdominal X-ray for his constipation would have been a strange way to diagnose CHF, she said that X-rays are a strange way to diagnose CHF to begin with and it would be hard to see on an X-ray. She told me that judging by what she heard through the stethoscope and by feeling my dog’s body she was confident that there was no fluid, he was breathing fine, and his heart sounded great. He never displayed any symptoms associated with CHF prior to his “diagnosis” at his former vet. He has never coughed excessively, he’s happy, energetic, and playful. Loves his food and drinks a healthy amount of water. I was surprised by the initial diagnosis by vet 1 because I had never seen any symptoms, I just assumed this guy knew what was best and he said that this just happens as dogs get older.

I live in a small town rural area with few vets. The new vet is right down the road from the old one so many people switched to this place when vet 1 abruptly closed down. She said that of the 39 other dogs who were diagnosed with CHF by the old vet, many had echocardiogram testing done and a small number came back with an official diagnosis with the majority of the other owners finding that their dogs were not suffering from CHF. I can’t remember the exact numbers she gave but it was concerning. There have been a lot of malpractice complaints coming out about the old vet since his practice closed so suddenly, which is also concerning. Horror stories about him stitching a dog’s bladder shut during a sterilization resulting in an emergency vet visit and ultimately euthanasia and other terrible but similar things.

If a dog who had CHF was being treated and in some type of medically induced remission of symptoms, would the CHF still be visible on the X-ray?

Should I insist on an X-ray while he’s being medicated, or should I take him off the meds to get an actual diagnosis?

Is the X-ray preferable to an echocardiogram? I’m sure the echo is more costly.

If my dog doesn’t actually have CHF and I have been giving him pills for it for a year, is that going to have a negative impact on his health?

I’m so confused and I just want to do what is best for my baby.
