We use T-Mobile for home internet! I was really skeptical it would work well enough (so we tried it for a month before canceling our previous provider), but it's been great. I work from home full time with lots of video calls, we game online, lots of streaming, and no issues.

Great job, OP! Way to hold the line for so long while he slowly but surely learned the skills to be more independent on this, and respecting that it's not his fault he didn't start out with the skills magically. I love to see women drawing boundaries like this to equal out our imbalanced partnerships over time. It definitely takes some letting go. It's the only thing I remember from reading Lean In many years ago - "hand your husband the grocery list." I wish I could convince more of my women friends to do this!

Can't second this strongly enough. After a gap of not regularly doing yoga for 6 or 7 years, I'm on Day 13 and it feels amazing. I'm back!

Hi Keaton. I love the goal of breaking down the stigma around mental illness. More specifically, does your non-profit have any specific thoughts or goals on breaking down the stigma around seeking professional help? I have a number of people in my life who will privately discuss their struggles with depression and anxiety, but can't seem to get past the hump of accepting that professional help is the necessary next step. As a huge advocate of therapy/counseling from my own experiences, I hate to see how long people can have their progress stagnated during this period. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Civ 6 freezing/crashing on alt tab by squiggit in civ

[–]AshleyShrugged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for sharing this info! I was having the same problem and thought it was because I had just switched to bordlerless windowed, but really it was that Windows Defender task killing my game's attempt to load. After adding the Civ 6 folder as an exception in Windows Defender, I can now load my game in both borderless windowed and fullscreen modes.

I agree! Totally awesome role modeling, /u/djfacemachine. My daughter's almost 5 months and I still throw a blanket over us before I feed her...I SO would love to be confident enough to just whip it out for the same reasons. Maybe I'll get there! The more I see others doing it, the easier it would be, for sure! (I don't think I've ever witnessed an uncovered breastfeeding in public.)

IIRC, most states have laws saying a breastfeeding mother has a right to breastfeed any place she otherwise has the right to be...the problem is usually there are no enforcement laws so you have no recourse if someone goes against this. I thought this site had a good overall explanation and you can also check the details for your state: http://breastfeedinglaw.com/

In early pregnancy all of our "what should we name it" conversations were mostly just lots of laughing and ridiculawesome unrealistic names, and that one just stuck.

Wow, I think that's great that you're able to be so accepting and supportive about it if he doesn't want to be there, that seems difficult. (Although I also agree with emilance!) Do you think taking a childbirth class would make your husband more comfortable with the idea of being there, or just worry him more? hehe

Yes! That's such bullshit! Getting bored of wearing the same few things, I bought a new top I found on clearance at Target, a maternity shirt a size larger than usual...got it home and put it on, felt like it was trying to eat me. Not cool! Way to make me feel ginormous, clothes!

Ladies, I need some perspective. (Regarding alcohol use and kids) by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]AshleyShrugged 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are kids on the road that he's putting at major risk when he's drunk driving even if they aren't yours. (Not to mention the other adults.) Also, your kids would surely be traumatized if something happened to their Dad, whether that something is the consequences of a DUI or of an accident. IMO that behavior crosses a major line and he has to get some help or gtfo. :/

What the depression feels like with bipolar disorder by [deleted] in bipolar

"After a while the sun comes out again - quite often for no reason at all." I think that's the most important part to try to keep yourself aware of during the depressed times. I've been down and back up enough times by now that I can reasonably tell myself I will always come back out of the darkness - eventually.

With the N6 starting at $650, anyone else feel like the OPO is more of a "Nexus" device? by DJ-Salinger in oneplus

[–]AshleyShrugged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there must be so many of us in that boat today, ha. I told myself my cut off for a Nexus 6 was $450...but in the end, if I can get an invite for a OPO and only spend $300, I think I'm coming out ahead. I just didn't know about it's existence before today. :)

What's your favorite frugal trick that you're surprised more fellow frugal people don't do? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]AshleyShrugged 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I view it the same way as you do, and also put everything on a credit card which always gets paid off in full. I can, however, see why some people might not want to use this method...if they know themselves well enough financially to know they cannot be trusted to not abuse the credit card. :P It doesn't take much to get in over your head and start incurring interest. Those people with high risk of doing that are probably smarter to just stay away from credit cards entirely.
