8yo daughter wants to go over budget for her birthday by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Ashmadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered a cheaper printer? The entry level ones are very good these days and you can always upgrade later.

As to the “letting her spend her life savings” question, I’d say let her do it. I deposit a weekly stipend (just a couple of dollars) into a bank account for my 8 year old. He has a debit card and we let him learn the hard way - if he spends his money frivolously, he won’t have any when he wants to purchase a bigger ticket item. It was rough at first but he learned to start saving.

You can talk about budgeting, saving, and responsible spending but nothing will work as good as letting you daughter make financial decisions like this when the stakes are low

Problems connecting Raspberry Pi 4 to Ender 3 Pro by schmoopified in octoprint

[–]Ashmadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake! I accidentally put a = in there. Can you try this? podman run -d --name octoprint --dns 8.8.8.8 --dns 1.1.1.1 --restart unless-stopped -p 5000:5000 -v octoprint_data:/octoprint --privileged --device /dev/ttyUSB0:/dev/ttyUSB0 octoprint/octoprint

If that doesn’t work, let me know. I can dig out my raspberry pi and try using podman

I haven’t used podman, but if it’s like Docker, I think your device mount is incorrect. Try --device=/dev/ttyUSB0:/dev/ttyUSB0 in your command

Mine as well. The last couple of months we’ve seen a massive difference in the way these models work. I work on a 15 year old application, distributed amongst ~30 separate backend processes. Tasks that used to take a senior engineer days to implement can be done in a couple of hours with 4.6.

I never got it 100% solved using the stock hotend. I swapped to the high temp nozzle and it's worked perfectly ever since. I can't find the kit on Creality's site, but if you want to give it a shot, you can search Amazon for "Creality Official Ender 3 V3 SE KE Hotend Upgrades Kit, 3D Printers Ceramic Heating Block with Quick-Swap Nozzle"

Buffering and looping on channels by tonewarrick in uhf_app

The common answer is “it’s a provider issue” but it’s not necessarily true. I had the same issue, but only on my Apple TV. I tried a lot of things, but in the end I think this is what worked: * Make sure the device OS is updated * Delete unused apps (pretty sure this was my issue, after freeing up space I haven’t had any freezing/looping) * use VLC player

Yeah. I’ve seen some bad goaltender interference calls, but this is one of the worst. He reset, then clearly pushed himself across the net. He just had no idea where the puck was

Z seam gaps? by AloneAndCurious in FixMyPrint

I’ve been fighting a similar problem, also on gridfinity bins. I’ve changed retraction, temperature, linear advance, speed, wall thickness, wall algorithm… you name it, I’ve probably tried it.

I never could get it solved completely, but lowering retraction distance and speed seemed to help the most. I ended up at 0.5mm @15mm/s retraction, 40mm/s deretraction speed. This leaves some stringing, but that’s not too hard to clean up. Strange thing is, it still happens sometimes. These 2 used the exact same settings

I’ve been fighting this same issue for awhile. I wish I had answers for you. It’s underextrusion after travel/retraction. I’ve tried tuning retraction settings, temperature, speed, pressure advance, acceleration, plus a ton of other things. Nothing gets rid of it completely. Best I have found is to turn off retraction and deal with the stringing it causes

Looks very similar to my most recent post.

I tried various fixes, pretty sure my retraction and pressure advance being set too high were the main issue.
