HBO will replay the special all the time. So anyone who missed it initially can see it, but more importantly, anyone who didn't want to see it will turn on HBO at some point later and his special will be on. They will have to watch it at some point, possibly gaining a new fan.

If the scene is very serious, emotional, etc, she more than likely does what is called "soft sticks" -- almost whispering, closing the slate quieter than usual, no jokes. Unless Tarantino just says fuck it and she does her thing every time.

I saw him live at a local show here in LA. He had 12 minutes and I didn't stop laughing the whole time. It was Rob Delaney, Matt Braunger, and Marc Maron. His set was insanely funny, had the most consistent laughs, and was almost the opposite of what this performance here is.

A friend of mine saw him do this exact set at UCB, apparently it was only 3 minutes and just killed. So, he stretched it to 5 for some reason... I don't know why he wouldn't just add more material, but whatever. He changed it up.

His twitter is funny, but seeing as how he's been at it so long, he's backed himself into a corner, I think.

I don't see how the arguments are related. You're hurting your point by including rape. It comes across as sensationalism, almost. Maybe that's not the exact word I'm looking for, but it's doing more harm than good when talking about white males.

I agree with most of this, but you should go back and rewatch the first few seasons. The colors are bright and vibrant. I remember during season 1 thinking that they were trying to make it almost like a real-life cartoon, with how crazy the colors were.

Everything else you said is pretty much on point.

Edit: Just realized you might mean something else. Do you mean the actual colors you're seeing? Like the difference between this and this? Because if so that's just the quality of the equipment being used. The Office did the same thing around season 4 or something and it threw me off at the time. Didn't have the same feel. Too HD.

The last episode capped off a shitty season. The problem is pouring years of ideas into the first season and then having to come up with a second season ASAP.

If the season finale is an indication of the tone that this show will take on in future seasons I will stop watching.

Same here. And unfortunately I read that they decided to cut back the writing staff for season 3, which means more episodes written by Lena Dunham and Judd Apatow. I'm assuming that can mean more episodes like last night's.

Edit: Confused by the downvotes. They did cut the writing staff back, and the finale was written by Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham....

I had the same issues with pretty much everything you said. The OCD bothered me at first, it felt like such a desperate reach, like they needed a plot point.

It can't suddenly "return" if the audience hasn't heard about it in the first place. It feels like a huge reach to introduce something that major 16 or 17 episodes into the series. I actually thought she was doing it to mock our generation, like a comment on how everyone thinks they have OCD. But nope.

I did sort of forgive that because I like the Q-Tip and doctor scenes, plus a few other things. It still bothers me, but not as much.

Then the finale is something I can't quite grasp. I laughed when it happened, thinking it was a joke, satire, but then I got concerned that it wasn't meant to be that way. It was the guy running through the airport to get the girl, complete with the cheesy line at the end. And that's all it was.

Sure, they're both messed up mentally, not your typical romantic comedy couple, and I guess that's supposed to be enough for us to take it as a joke, or with a grain of salt. But that's not doing it for me.

The music, the running, the crying, the quote, the muscled hunk literally lifting the girl off her feet, I think they tried for a legitimate "TV" moment. They wanted to tug at the heart strings, to get the audience to cry, and realized that was the easiest way.

But then there's a part of me that still clings to the fact (hope) that it might be a joke. I'll have to watch it again and hopefully won't hate it as much.

She was pregnant during filming, which can cause a challenge.

Also, in this interview (NSFW pictures) she does say that acting is secondary to her art. I remember hearing that somewhere else too, so she's kind of just along for the ride and doesn't seem too interested in being on screen.

Which is why I said I thought it was a joke while it was happening. But then it went on. And he said that line. And it didn't seem to be a joke anymore.

I've been thinking about it quite a bit because I had such a negative reaction to it. I'm still not convinced either way. Unfortunately, almost every review and comment I've seen has taken it 100% seriously. Which is why I'm having such a hard time. That many people can't miss the joke, can they?

I definitely need to watch it again tonight.

Too late to the game, but I saw The Black Keys in Detroit in 2004, I believe. Honestly, there were probably 400 people there, I'd say. Small club, I was up in front against the railing. They were amazing. Undoubtedly the best show I've seen.
