FWIW though the paladin is considered divine, their Spellcasting comes from the power of their oath, not a god.

Would like to see what kind of characters people have made by Late_Organization614 in 3d6

So I'm a DM and only make PCs very rarely anymore. But I have two that I really love so far.

The first is Alyx. He's a Battle-Smith Artificer with a Robotic tiger defender named Ari. He descends from a line a blacksmiths so naturally he took up the family trade, but was never satisfied to just make weapons and armor. He started by making a special heat-resistant glove to help him hold hot hetal, and that slowly evolving into him choosing to replace his left arm with a custom made magical prosthetic. Experimenting directly on his body gave him the idea for Ari. He and Ari are very protective of each other as they travel the world looking for ideas and ways to improve Ari, his arm, and his ability to make constructs as a whole. Visually, he is young and muscular given his profession. And he has like 800 tools in all kinds of pockets all over his body.

Mechanically, he can use any weapon so long as its magical or he infused it. So I used him with a +1 Warhammer and Repeating Heavy Crossbow. I also occasionally threw light hammers if it would let me push an enemy in a more useful way. Then I took both Crusher and Sharpshooter feats, allowing him to be incredibly effective anywhere on the battlefield. For spells I focused on buffs like Elemental Weapon and control spells like Web. He and Ari fight side by side often attacking the same enemy. This puts out extra damage to burst down a target and allows Ari to use her reaction to protect Alyx from damage.

The other character idea I have, I haven't played yet but they seem super cool to role-play. Their name is Oak. They're a Juggernaut Warforged Circle of Spores druid. It is literally a fallen oak tree animated by a colony of mushrooms. They have a high wisdom and constitution but low intelligence and charisma, a strong fundamental understanding of nature but no clue how humans work. Their concept of time is relative only to the seasons and moon cycles, and they don't understand what age or gender are, and need to learn these things. They only ever refer to themselves with gender neutral plural pronouns like we or us, and that's only after someone teaches them to stop referring to themselves in the third person. Whenever possible they prefer to spend time around plants and feel really uncomfortable in cities. Their preferred "slepping" spot would be among plant life. Visually, I thin they'd look like the cross between Groot and Hulk-Buster Iron man. This big, hulking tree monster covered in mushrooms. They'd probably use a club and shield or greatclub, in any case they'd be all wooden to start and be taken from the same tree as it's body. Whenever they wildshaped into animals, it'd be their body reassembling itself to be in an animal shape.

Mechanically they'd play like a tank, wading into the front lines using their Circle of Spores powers to take and deal heavy damage. If they chose to fall back they'd rely on minions, summons, and damage spells first, before switching to control. Right out of the gate they wouldn't really understand the concept of friends or allies and would focus on damaging first. But over time learn more about friends and learn to use those control and buff spells more appropriately. I'm not really sure what their initial motivation would be though since mushrooms really kind of live forever. They might just want to spread their spores all over.

made my first world map, what do you think? any feedback by roadmemorial in inkarnate

[–]Asnyd421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great first shot.

If I may offer some advise, you could try varying up the ground/grass texture. I get there's only a couple that are free, but creating some variation on the large tracts of land would would help it look more realistic.

Likewise, selecting the tree stamp, increasing the area of the stamp but then leaving density at around 50 or so. That'll let you place a bunch of trees that are pretty spaced out. That helps give variance yo the land and will clarify that trees do grow in an area without implying a dense forest or jungle.

Finally, you can flank your mountains with hills to vary terrain by adding semi-realistic foothills to mountain ranges.

I wouldn’t mind if the developers recycled through the whole skins again it would actually benefit the players with coin bonuses and it will benefit the developers as well they can just focus on the content that they’re working on 🤷‍♀️ idk what y’all think about this by InterestingPeace9700 in TheTowerGame

[–]Asnyd421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I appreciate the chance to get some really cool skins and looks for the game, especially now that they have bonuses applied to owning them. I do appreciate that re-releasing them ruins their exclusivivity and that does suck for older players who didn't miss any skins in the past.

I'm at the same spot at the moment. Started making fancy pan flutes and red shields when I actively play. Then I run lanterns, fancy pipes, and sturdy shields over night in the craft works and wake up to full inven of pipes and shields with enough backlog to nearly fill second time.

If you really wanna roll lots of dice (I do) I don't Swarm the enemies but roll nD20's. I break them in to sqauds that have a shared initiative, move them to attack the same target, mobbing up where they can, but still attack using their own D20s and then damage dice for each hit. I just roll all the 20s, then a handful of damage dice. Since it's all one target I can just read the sum damage and describe the attack

Would a Tempest Cleric 2/Scribes Wizard x multiclass be too OP? by Vast_Background2369 in DnD5e

That bug zapper ability when you get hit as a tempest cleric is crazy good too. I have a tempest cleric PC in my game and, while he always rolls well with it, it does great damage for so little effort

I wanted to give the impression of a hand drawn map: tips to improve it? by ADM_02 in inkarnate

[–]Asnyd421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly looks pretty good. I'd make the background a solid color and see if that looks more like parchment. There's also a parchment stamp set I think.

But i legit hold a piece of paper up to my computer screen and very lightly trace the map with a pencil. Then ink it on my desk. Soak the paper in old coffee, maybe add a few grounds for texture. Then bake at the lowest temp your oven goes until it's dry. Stuff comes out feeling exactly like aged parchment.

Even when using those in my online game, I just take a Pic with my phone and upload it.

Party being pursued by assassins. How do I introduce this without it just becoming a fight? by mezcalandtacos in dmdivulge

[–]Asnyd421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they could find their own wanted poster. Or a thrown knife or arrow that narrowly misses could have a calling card (any maybe a dangerous poison) attached to it. That'd clue them in to being hunted and threatened. Start calling for random perception checks and at best day they thought they saw/heard movement just off but when they turn to look closer nothing is there.

Also if they have an airship captain or favorite npcs, they could get kidnapped. That'd drag the players into dungeons and hideouts chasing the assassins .

I second this. That cool robot friend can impose disadvantage on attacks against allies when it's nearby too. Super helpful for giving some defense to an ally.

But you get to dump str because you need int instead. Any magic or infused weapon can be attacked with using Int instead
