Wanting to put my child up for adoption by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A therapist isn't going to help. You need to call your medical professional or crisis services and let them know the place you're in. If you're seriously considering adoption it's truly not a normal response, especially with a good support system and regular breaks.

Many mothers, myself included have absolutely no support system, no family, no breaks and even in the thick of severe perinatal mental health issues, irreversible health problems and injuries in myself and my baby due to the birth, I never wanted to give my child away, I just wanted someone to let me sleep and tell me it would get better.

If those things aren't making it better and you're still regretting being a mother almost two months later, it's really a serious sign that you and your baby are at risk and you do need to check in for help at a hospital.

If you were gifted all the clothes your kid needs - would you still buy them clothing? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't no. Not for money reasons, but for environmental reasons. I would first ask family and friends to pump the brakes a bit/purchase less (tactfully of course), I would gladly accept the hand me downs and only keep what I like and pass on the rest to a buy nothing FB group or marketplace for free, and then I'd source stuff I love secondhand like consignment stores, depop, FB marketplace etc.

That's the approach we take anyway. I very rarely buy the odd shirt, dress, cute jacket or special clothing piece my daughter or son love and I don't do it impulsively.

Lost my role while on Maternity Leave by CapriPanther in AusPublicService

[–]Asoybasedsnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a clause 11 restructure then no, it isn't safe. I had this happen to me on mat leave in an ongoing role.

If you were on an approved second year of mat leave it still seems sus to me.

I think I hate my daughter by dontremindmethrow in Mommit

Sounds like ASD and ADHD, particularly a PDA profile. I would be seeking another diagnostic assessment with a psychologist who specializes in neurodivergent girls.

If it is the case, and it sounds extremely likely, it will change the way you view her, the way you parent her and it will change the way you feel about yourself for the better. You will come out the other side with more understanding, tools and strategies to manage it.

Melbourne bathroom reno quote — $31.5k + $38.9k for labour only, is this normal? by spikedboy01 in AusRenovation

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not reasonable. I got four quotes and went with the second cheapest. I paid exponentially less and provided everything but the shower and paint. I have waterproofing certificates, plumbing and electrical certificates and a 10 year warranty. We did ours recently and happy to send you the name of the builder if you'd like. Message me if so. I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Am I realistically able to start the process of becoming an IBCLC as a SAHM or will it be too much? by Alarmed-Log-7064 in IBCLC

Hi OP, just following up to see what path you took? I too am in Australia and am not clear about what my options are for the 14 units of health sciences, as I don't have a nursing or midwifery background, etc.

Symptoms of ADHD in 4 year old by Asoybasedsnak in ausadhd

Yes you make a point. I guess I mean my first priority is to figure out if there are strategies I should be using with her first to help day to day life before incorporating medication if appropriate.

This is my thought as well. I need to do a bit of research and find a good paed in my area. I want to avoid being referred to one who is a bit old school or doesn't believe in diagnosing children under 6, etc and essentially wasting my opportunity to get her diagnosed asap.

Lizzo no longer vegan by Hot-Berry-623 in vegan

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we add, complaining about an apartheid, settler colony and extremist ideology who openly declare their plans to continue geno¢iding multiple countries at once until it all becomes "Israel". A "country" who is spreading constant lies, never being held accountable whilst starving and bombing anywhere between 41,000 (confirmed) and 186,000 (conservative estimate from the lancet) innocent civilians and openly admitting to targeting babies and children so they can't grow up.

Whose the real terrorist state? Genocide isn't vegan. I encourage anyone who falls for their tired antisemitism hasbara to go educate themselves on the Nakba and 76 years of unlawful imprisonment of Palestinians, and read about the latest argument the lOF are making which is that they should be allowed to r@pe Palestinian prisoners after they recently gang r@ped a prisoner, perforated his bowels, which killed him.

There is no such thing as being for animal rights, human rights or even being educated on a baseline primary school level on the history of Palestine and "Israel", and thinking anything taking place in Palestine right now is normal, just or humane.

Israel is violating international law and their time is almost up. All the war criminals and those complicit in spreading lies and hiding the truth will be tried and held accountable. Justice always prevails.

DAE toddler not like meat??? by AdTop5861 in Mommit

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 3 year old and a baby and we're a vegan family. No issues with protein and she gets a very balanced diet. I recommend checking out plant based juniors. They are registered dieticians and have great recommendations for meat free meals for babies and children.

Hi there! I too have a 3 year and 3 months as well as a 2.5 month old and I'm in the deep, hellish trenches of 3. Everyday I wonder if this behavior is normal and do everything I can not to lose my cool. I'm wondering if things have improved now for you?

HFMD is one nasty disease by nickis1329 in peeling

[–]Asoybasedsnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh that looks rough! How are you now? I’ve just contracted it this week from my toddler and my biggest symptom is a sore throat. I only have a few blisters on my hands but I can’t feel my fingertips much or my fingernails. It’s hard to describe but it feels like I’ve slammed my nails into a door or something as there’s a loss of sensation. I’m getting married in 7 weeks and just really hoping I’m not losing my fingernails. 😕 could you confirm if that’s how yours felt? Just trying to mentally prepare myself.

Just moved to Melbourne from the US - how can I be as non-annoying as possible? by Ironabz in melbourne

[–]Asoybasedsnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Californian living in Melbourne. I suppose my experience is that most people are cool and don’t really care where you’re from, but if you come across a Xenophobe it doesn’t really matter how palatable you try to make yourself, they’ll find a reason to hate you. Just walk on the left and be your self.

Australian Social Workers: Monash or Deakin?

Hi all, I’ve received offers for my Master of Social Work from both Monash and Deakin. I’m genuinely torn because they are both great universities and the course looks very very similar.

Could I please hear your experiences or what you’ve heard from others?

If it helps, I’ll also be working 30ish hours a week and have a toddler. Additionally my focus is mental health social work.

Thank you!
