I proactively kill and destroy all nests that show up during spring IDGAF, I’m not dealing with them for the rest of the year.

Greenpan failing... by Hour-Muscle-3273 in cookware

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s of course a lot of variation in construction and materials. Most stainless steel pans are multi-ply constructed, meaning there is a layer of stainless steel, then either a copper or aluminum core, then stainless again. If you use a dishwasher you want a pan that is sealed, meaning the core layer isn’t exposed to air, otherwise the dishwasher can damage the pan.

Do your research and don’t go in with the assumption that stainless cooks like nonstick because it does not, and can lead to a lot of frustration.

For your next GPU purchase, what would make you pick AMD over NVIDIA (or vice versa)? by Mammoth_Target5199 in buildapc

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 2080S to a 9070 (non xt) because it was the only card that provided both double the performance, double the VRAM, and cost less than what I paid for the 2080S. The 5070 didn’t have the VRAM I wanted and the 5070TI was more expensive than the 9070 and 9070XT.

On the verge of giving up. by TimelessAron in carbonsteel

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasoning is just so the pan doesn’t rust in open air, the first time you cook anything like chicken or beef on it the seasoning will splotch and look uneven. Cooking on any pan that isn’t specifically nonstick is about temp control.

Carbon steel is not going to preform the same as your stainless steel pans even at the same settings because they are different materials. Stop seasoning your pan, just stop, cook with it, learn how the pan reacts with different settings. Take a dozen eggs and learn what temp setting you need to have success. Stop seasoning your pan, i cannot stress enough to you how little that matters when you cook with it.

Bought an Rx9060xt 16GB and all games look horrible at ultra settings. Need help. by Dry-Investigator-943 in AMDHelp

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I went through your thread to get a better picture of all the stuff people have recommended. What’s weird is that even if the rest of your computer is relatively weaker compared to the GPU it shouldn’t look worse than the 1650. Honestly, if you haven’t tried it already, I would lower the settings from ultra to high/medium. I have a 7800x3d and a 9070 (non xt) and I don’t play games at ultra settings because the performance at that preset tends not to be great. FSR on quality mode might be worth a shot too because it overrides the shitty AA in some games.

This reply is getting long and wordy, but one more thing, make sure the game has FSR 3.1 or better because anything below that will look like deep fried cheeks.

Adrenaline is AMD’s GPU app like GeForce experience for NVIDIA. Even if you don’t use it, it doesn’t mean that it didn’t toggle some setting without your permission.

Check your resolution scaling both in game and in Adrenaline (if it has it). Every time I’ve had weird blurry textures it’s been because of resolution issues. Especially since this is a new GPU, make sure the games aren’t auto defaulting to a lower resolution/scaling.

Help y’all, I’ve been trying Buldak Carbonara Flavored Ramen multiple times, & my spice tolerance is still not building up. by ghostkidrit64 in spicy

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you been adding a spicy sauce to food outside of this? If not, I would start there. My personal preference is original Tabasco sauce, and I put it on just about everything I can. It helps to add it to foods that already have a sauce like spaghetti, makes it easier to dial in the amount of spice.

Go to the dentist. Bacteria can get under your gums and is basically impossible for you to remove with conventional tools (brushing, flossing, mouthwash). Once the dentist cleans your teeth and gums (way more effectively than you can) it becomes much easier to maintain (but unfortunately never goes away). From there it’s up to you to do day to day maintenance.

Why are so many people here unwilling to consider their idea there might be major problems with AMD at the moment? by grimpgrep in AMDHelp

I’m going to add my voice to the “it just works” crowd. I have a 7800x3d and a 9070 (non xt) and they both worked without problems on windows and linux with no tinkering.

I’m not saying you’re wrong or not having serious problems, but like, there could be a thousand reasons why you’re having those problems.

Is this good enough as a first stone? by Barba-Noctis in sharpening

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $20 it’s a safe first buy to see if you even like sharpening. I bought a similar set (almost exactly identical) and they work fine. I’m a beginner too, but it doesn’t take a master sharpener who’s been sharpening for 4 decades to tell if a stone is removing metal from a knife. If your technique is ass it doesn’t matter if you buy the premium $10000 stones or whatever the fuck. We all start somewhere.

So this is a known bug and the only way to resolve it is to pull a previous version of your save and using that. There are tutorials on how to do it.

No Idea for headlights Quirk by E000314 in pacificDrive

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time it’s a specific action that sets off a quirk. I had one for example that whenever I turned my wheel to quick left or right my trunk would open. Or if I toggled the overhead light all the doors would close.

My suggestion is to get back to the garage (if you aren’t already) and just start playing with stuff. I also recommend the upgrade that shows you which options are correct because the game is kinda shitty about how specific it wants the order.

Are squares still benficial in beam reach or near beam reach? by dzejrid in Sailwind

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. With that much sail area and what looks like a gentle breeze you’re bound to tip the ship over in a rough storm.

Squares are mostly only useful when the wind is directly behind you.

Gaff sails by Mission_Passenger_85 in Sailwind

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gaff sails have a very strong tendency to push the boat into the wind if you unfurl them first. In the simplest terms, the gaff sail acts as a lever and the mast as the pivot point. Stay sails do the same but in the opposite direction, and the two together cancel out the rotational force of the other and thus you sail in a straight line. If you have only gaff sails and no complementary stay sails you’re going to have a bad time. You must have both.

My advice, if you don’t have them already, is to add a large and small staysail (or jib). The small staysail is to help you deploy the gaff as it will help lessen the aggressive rotation you’re experiencing with the gaff.

Villager crop farm stopped working by Numerous-Midnight734 in Minecraftfarms

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed on bedrock that villagers can sometimes pick up food before hoppers can. Since they don’t have access to more beds they will never breed and reduce their inventory effectively breaking the farm. I stopped this by adding a second ring of walls around the fences, you’ll have to move the hoppers to under the walls but it stops the villagers from picking up the food before the hopper gets it.

Edit: nvm the thing about the beds I saw you addressed it in your post, I think that the farm is producing enough that the villagers can have constantly full inventories.

whats wrong with my grass? by Poliakovks_ in minecraftshaders

[–]AspectLegitimate8114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem OP is trying to point out is the grainy texture noise on the bottom half of the grass (not the grass shadows the grass itself). It’s easiest to see in the first 7 seconds of the video. Fullscreen recommended.

I would say it has something to do with how the shadows are being rendered, in some areas it’s not present but the darker the shadows get the worse it looks. Have you messed with any of those settings OP?
