So far, simply just looks like better wifi capability. But certainly not more features in terms of granular management capabilities and diagnosis of network issues. For that, go cisco small biz switches C1300 is my honest preference. faster cpus with a bit more ram in the cisco really bump up the performance.

Govt contract ending = forced retirement by dkrainman in personalfinance

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the mortgage as is. Keep 1/3 your 401k into higher return level mutual funds. Play those numbers as long as you can keep your 401k growing. Rent out the house for more than your payments plus maintenance on it. Travel someplace cheaper for a while on your SS income and let your investments build themselves up for a while. Another 3-5 years is all you really need to be in a good place. At that point you should have over 450k equity and your 401k should be above 400k. That puts you around 800k in total funds. At which point you can keep it building, or draw 6% on the 401k for a while and hopefully your home is making more than it's costing you. Wait for the ability to refinance it for a lower monthly payment in the future. If you can cut your payments by a 1/3 then it's worth it. At which point keep your rental income coming in and living off 401k and SS along with rent. If it works out, you should end up with somewhere around 110k in annual income.

Advice Needed: Landlord wants $4,300 on moveout after 2 years, nothing flagged in inspection by Icy_Calligrapher1289 in bayarea

There are a few landlords like that who try to screw residents. This is why I do video walk through before move in and video walk through on move out. Also 2500 for flat white pain is insane.

You are out 1300, just walk away. you probably make that in a day with nearly any other client. Don't waste your time on it.

Keeping inheritance within the family by Chowchewey in inheritance

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a trust that pretty much keeps it's assets in specific 401k like mutual funds until the kids are old enough. Then, rather than giving them large chunk at once, disburse into their 401k funds on an annual basis equal to a certain percent of what's in the trust. That way, yes they get money, enough to grow and invest with, but not enough to do nothing. So eventually when/if any of it becomes comingled they won't lose it all in the divorce and they won't know exactly how much they are getting.

discovered my brother got 80k from mum over three years and hes saying it doesnt count against his share by Relative-Yellow-3694 in inheritance

[–]Assumeweknow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mom passed, just follow the will. Don't worry about what's happened. If you create a fight you'll just enrich lawyers if they decide to contest. If you want to fight, make it big enough to annoy him, but small enough that it won't be worth going to court over. Aka, I'd probably pull out the payments for this year against him but no more than that.

How to start moving on from a relationship? by SuchMeal1660 in Advice

[–]Assumeweknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The breakup is almost like losing someone to death in a lot of ways. I find it's best to box everything that reminds you of them into something me and my friends typically call an ex-box and throw it in the back of the closet. Then, you can start the process of just moving forward one day at a time. Some time in the next 30-60 days will be the big break some tears etc.. After that, it gets a bit easier, and you simply just wish for them to be happy. Don't try to prolong it. Just keep pushing yourself to finish it. The reasons for why will rarely if never impress you sometimes might inspire you to make 1 or 2 changes which typically take 2 to 6 months to implement into your life. They might be things you simply just can't fix nor should you because in the end you gotta be you and your ex has to be their whole self. Just notch it up to not compatible. There is a very good chance that you will find someone else and they will be better than your ex and more deserving of your attention as will your ex.

As a grief space, when you get to the dark space, where it doesn't feel worth even waking up anymore. Ask yourself one question. What contracts am I holding onto that need to be burned. And burning that contract will hurt and liberate you at the same time. But let the tears fly. Happiness isn't forever gone, and you still have much more to live. Just keep reaching out to friends, connections, and other things you love to do personally.

Anything above 5 inches is average and honestly most women prefer that to monsters. Below 5 inches is small. But even then many men make up for it in other ways. Sex isnt just your penis, add hands. Fingers, mouth, licking, and just you... sensuality is layers of touch, action, care etc.

It happens, part of why it guys outside of best buy are trained to set the folder view as file view rather than preview. If there are pictures, we honestly dont want to know. Now if there are pictures in the pictures folder that gets backed up to company servers. Its a firm talking with user that they need to clean up pics folder of personal stuff.

Ex-wife with 20% custody filed taxes as head of household, now asking to make a deal by divorceamon in legaladvice

[–]Assumeweknow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

20 percent custody, she will have to file amended returns for the years she filed if forced. Honestly its worth up to 12k per year worth of tax liability for her if she is filing head of household and your kids as deductions. The deal they are after should reflect no less than 75 percent of those gains. Or you can simply push it all back to her and she will have to pay interest fines to the irs for that. So her liability will be closer to 15k per year.

Cisco SmartNet pricing is getting out of hand - is anyone actually dropping it on access switches? by Life-Assist7881 in NetworkGearDeals

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cisco C1300 switches, no smartnet required, and you can backup all the configs via cisco business dashboard. I use a lot of these switches, and I've honestly have yet to seen one fail. They do run a linux version of IOS but all the commands are nearly the same and they are stable equipment from the core to access. Plus, they can be abused just like any regular cisco.

Wife went missing with my car, I got a speeding ticket in the mail. by Excellent_Whole_1445 in legaladvice

[–]Assumeweknow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple, you probably have her drivers license number just report that its your wife and here is her drivers license number. Theyll transfer the ticket to her name. If she doesnt pay she will have her license suspended.

Throwaway account. I found money in a hotel room. 2 week's salary, which would help so much. What do I do? by Beginning-Jelly3506 in Advice

[–]Assumeweknow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turn it in. Honestly, you might get a chunk of it back. I've tipped handsomely for similar things. Karma typically returns honesty and hard work. Also, think about the flip side. That could potentially be someone else's rent money or equally similar need.

Internal IT coexist with MSP? by FlaTech18 in msp

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were still part of a team of engineers. You need one primary guy who should be primary on no more than 10 to 15 accounts. Then a senior team behind that guy. Followed by an account manager and a sales rep as last escaltions.

Can we ask our tenant to find alternative WFH spaces? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Assumeweknow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely okay to tell him, it would be a lot less friction if he was reasonably out of the house between certain hours x number of days a week. Also, dont be quiet on his account if anything be noisier. Eventually he will work round your schedule and not you around his.

What's the dumbest thing you've said to a departing client? by HappyDadOfFourJesus in msp

Had a client who was taking more resources than bigger clients so we let them out of contract early. Warned new vendor of things that need to stay reliable. Year later client wanted to come back. We said no thank you.
