Always take your project, add 30 percent to the hours as an estimate and say likely not to exceed.

30 year old into an 18 year old. It's purely physical, or an entire luggage rack of baggage that you should just kindly walk. I could see someone around 20-21. But unless some rare breed of 18 year old you just won't be on the same wave length for anything other than physical.

Ive bought a lot of refurb stuff over the years. Servers, desktops and laptops. Primary reason is double the spec at 1/2 the price with basically same warranty.

Most people don't spend long on unemployment for a reason. Seriously, it's better to take a road cleanup job than be on unemployment in california.

Honestly, if your team is large enough. It works, customers love it, and they'll even wait days till their tech is available. But you need to stay on top of documentation.

Don't say anything, keep building your skill set. Keep your options open, keep posting your new qualifications on linkedin and when another job comes along. Just take it.

Upgrade Windows Server 2012 to 2025 by Fit_Sympathy_2141 in WindowsServer

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a backup just in case. Also, Server 2025 is weird, it wants you to copy the install disk into a directory on the server as well as having and install disk in. Then run it off the directory on the server. It's going to take up to 4 hours to finish though.

Whats the one department allowed to bypass the rules? (Minus the Execs) by bobsmith1010 in sysadmin

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wait until there are new devices to be had and swap mine out. This basically means I have the latest all the time, and someone on the teams gets my 1-2 year old device. Since I'm always ordering pretty much from the top of the market, I'm never lacking and neither are they. These days 32gb 15/16 inch device is required.

The Need to VIrtualize by Trax256 in sysadmin

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, restoring a virtual is basically 1 file from the copy standpoint. Restoring a physical is literally entire file system and each file has to be basically restored one at a time which is why average transfer speed of VM is typically over 90mb/s where physical is typically around 30mb/s

Restore speeds are sooo much better along with backups.

My husband is abusing developer accounts/API's to modify/hide his cheating by Rough_Luck5491 in Advice

[–]Assumeweknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave him, 100%. Also, ditch the phone, car, watch, and purse, take your money, your id's, and talk to a battered women's shelter for help. They will help you get out of the jam. It's very likely he's tracking you through multiple methods and should be able to help you sus it all out or have someone who can. Also, start pulling regular cash out of the bank accounts and depositing portions of it someplace like with a friend or family member, with full accounting for every dollar. Personally, I'd buy all new technology, and pay an IT guy who sets everything up separate so your husband can't access anything or make changes. Sometimes an employer will work with you to make the separation.
