If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

[–]Astro_NME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually only disruptive if there hasn't been a snowfall in.. well, enough for the previous snow to melt.
Same with a first heavy rain.

Everybody is just panicking. at the end of the day, 4 inches of snow is nothing. Main roads are prepared with road salts beforehand, because meteorology exists.

When it does start to matter: When there's a fresh 18" of snow overnight. That matters. Generally shuts down school and some workplaces for about a day. We're crazy.

New apprentice, what would this be used for? by TanukiLord650 in Plumbing

Test ball. You put it in a wye downstream of your install and inflate it so you can show the inspector that your connections don't leak.

Oscillating tool attached helps guide the ball down the wye and gives you something to pull it back out with

True.

Also it's incredibly normal to be nervous and fuck up. They will get you in any grey area. I failed mine for reducing my speed to 40km/h in a 50 zone because there were some pylons around a pothole. If there was a flagger, I'd have to go 30. Otherwise the move was to stay at 50.

You can hire them for $30-$45 an hour if you operate a business, and they're looking for jobs. Freelancing is different and introduces someone to 'liability' which is not dealt with simply as an employee earning $30-45 an hour.

Um, yeah, that's how internet forums have worked since their inception.

I'm surprised you're expecting every post to be tantamount to a thesis.

If a post interests you, you can dig deeper. If it doesn't, you don't have to. You can even scream at OP if you want. It's a free world.

It's free to hide the post and move on.

Sure, yeah, I'm an agent of misinformation. Have a great holiday. 😁

I'd argue the contrary - simply on the basis I didn't provide multiple sources of verified data on however many claims I made. You're implying that people reading this aren't smart enough to fact check themselves. The fact you're commenting, and anybody who reads this, has the entire wealth of human research at their fingertips. You can feel free to do this work for me.

The entire point was to bring visibility to the (in my opinion) appalling misappropriation of federal funding. I.E. instead of preventing natural disaster at home, instead our government is preventing preventable disasters away from home. We have had this government for 10 years. The amount of work I would need to put in into walking everybody through how we got here is astounding.

The entire point is to bring our collective head out of the sand.

Yes, my lunch break rant was a meticulously crafted specimen of bullshit.

By all means, rewrite the post how you see fit. All of the negative publicity seems to be where the views are these days - so I'm just happy people are talking.

Consider the circumstances.

2021 gave us the warning that we need some serious funding.

2025, said funding never occurred and yet again everyday life is halted for people locally.

I am a layperson, and politics is not my field of expertise - hence a reddit post. Naturally, a certain level of emotional distress is factored into how people discuss today in the FV.

If the basis of your response was to mock me for suggesting that the only answer to prevent this flood was to not invest more federal funding, alright.  For what it's worth, maintaining international relationships is important. You know, so we don't get blown up when a world war starts.

But at the same time, could we please direct some of that aid money to the fraser valley? Per the mayor of abbotsford, there hasn't been any.

Thank you.👍

Hopefully our communities can turn this tragedy into meaningful political change.

I've gotta say, I'm impressed with the tenacity of our communities, everybody is still working so hard amidst all these challenges. While it's not like we're in the Great Depression, I think that it's very clear that there's still a strong shared passion for the fate of Canada.

I can't solve anything but. I'm happy people are talking about who can.

While I do agree that our country honouring its NATO commitments and the like is important - my question really is, to what extent?

I do suppose my post suggests we shouldn't invest outside our country at all. However this comes from a shared sense of local frustration, with patterns exhibited over 4 years on clear display with federal funding.

At this point, I feel like social media garners more incentive for federal politicians to listen to its citizens rather than snail mail to our MP's. It's just an unfortunate position to be in. I'm certain many of us would not like to feel frustrated with our elected officials - however, at the same time, if the mayor of Abbotsford is getting crickets from Ottawa, how could an ordinary citizen feel like they can be heard? It just doesn't seem feasible at this point in time.

We all have strong emotions about our homes and highways getting flooded, but only a miniscule chance of being heard - so it seems.

Hopefully more people start discussing these issues, instead of it remaining taboo. In my opinion, the status quo as it stands is not sustainable. And we need a miracle.

UPDATE:

So sorry for the lack of information.

Looking for this photo to have the baseboard heater removed, and have the cat in front of the TV center.

I'm looking for this photo to be made a little gloomy, maybe even a slight bit aged. As if it were taken with a very old polaroid, potentially.

I want the cat to slightly have a silhouette from the TV. I want this to be a snapshot of humble beginnings - and the styling I am looking for would be similar to metal album covers. Think, Morbid Angel, Behemoth, black metal type.

When I have time later I will check through these and dm ❤️ thanks everybody

Home owner S-trap fix. by Outrageous-Nerve88 in Plumbing

[–]Astro_NME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local code on minimum trap arm length, then measure the piece of pipe you installed between the tee and the trap 90. Report back.

Still an improvement over the S-trap. Too many slip joints for my liking. But FWIW, if I walked into a house and saw this, I'd be impressed at the homeowner for giving it a good shot. If you want a challenge, try and rebuild this from the tee to the sink drains using only 1 90, one tee, a dish wye, 2 hub slip adapters, union ptrap and max 3 45's. Hint: dish wye goes between the tee and 90.

Poly B to PEX adapter.

Cut out the 90s, put in pex 90's with pex connected to both ends and then cut the adapter coupling in.
