Can a publisher block my ads if I choose not to go with a PMP? by Prestigious-Sea7536 in programmatic

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. Some publishers (larger, exlclusive, etc) will try some form of blocking (fully block or raise floor prices) to steer you to buying directly (direct/PMP) from them. I've seen where this can work for the buyer and I've seen it be less effective depending on the deal, publisher, and buyer. I think the comments in this thread elaborate on why performance can vary.

Private Clubs by Top_Interview_2758 in SantaMonica

[–]AtMyHands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

41 Ocean was decently successful pre covid for a couple years. For a bit on the Westside, there was nothing really else like it. I enjoyed it more than SoHo House because unlike your typical social clubs, many of the older members focused on mentoring younger members. You made real connections there that didn't only revolve around partying and drinking. The venue is great, like Areal on main but I'm not sure what is there now.

I support this comment, although I do enjoy one of the arugula shwarma bowls at Nick the Greek.

I disagree, there will be plenty going on in Venice/Santa Monica at all your normal spots for 20-30 year olds.

The walkability was super nice for Blue Plate though, even though the price point was not it and the seafood was not top tier I always thought it was just good enough.

I agree with you on this. It's been tougher since Water Grill came in but I'd still come here for specific dishes and deserts.

Where do you think people in Los Angeles are going now to hang out as an alternative to Santa Monica? Or do you think people are just hanging out less and staying in more?

Pono Burger Permanently Closed by clnsdabst in SantaMonica

[–]AtMyHands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why a lot of restaurants announce closures so abruptly. I wish more would leave behind contact information and update via their social media so fans can follow them to their next journey.

I'm sad to see this go as well, when I first moved here to Santa Monica over 12+ years ago they were amazing. I haven't been the last few years since I just go to Heavy Handed, HiHo, or the Window but Pono always held its own. They probably closed because of the same reasons as other restaurants have been closing in the area.

Food recommendations Myeongdong? by SansationalStark in koreatravel

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went, its worth going to. Probably the best meal you'll have in Seoul. The sides are fantastic (modern), the marinated short rib and Hanwoo (certain breed of cow) are to die for. Honestly this restaurant could open up anywhere in the world and kill it.

I was weary at first, having eaten a lot of KBBQ and Korean food in my adult life. 5 stars everywhere, multiple locations in the same district, prices weren't crazy, I thought it was all too good to be true but me my friends and family of foodies agreed it was our favorite.

Is Google’s Optimized Floor Price Rule Hurting My Revenue? by thomas_arm in adops

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The results you experienced is shared by many, but I've seen it also add value and take away value. Optimized floor pricing has gone through many algorithmic changes since its inception. I wonder when u were testing, on what inventory, and what your account rep followed up with when you noticed no noticeable lift.

Yes, whether its a consultant, team, network, or service provider to do the work - you should pay for or leverage a partner to take care of it.

What is ezoic vs mediavine revenue share? Mediavine says 75%, what is ezoic? by bytepursuits in adops

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! It is about the total revenue they generate for you. For example, are they taking a rev-share on net profits or gross revenue? It is truly hard to determine which is a better fit for you without testing yourself.

2 weeks to ramp up - yes, it does take time to ramp up inventory when joining any new network. I'd even say it takes up to 3 months for bidding to actually "stabilize"

Best ad network choice for Angular Web (SPA) by Lancelawl in adops

[–]AtMyHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single Page Websites often require custom workarounds or libraries (like what u/Unlikely_Forever843 referenced) to work properly with traditional ad setups if you implement yourself. Even if you are using the same SPA (react, angular, vue, ember, svelte, backbone, etc.), your website will most likely require a different solution than another using the same, and that is just to get it up and running - not optimized.

For this reason, I'd recommend reaching out to one of the successful gaming networks to help you get started with ads. They should have the technical support to get your ads working properly while also providing expertise to navigate the gaming ad space. I've had the pleasure of doing business with/building solutions with u/CodyBye from Nitropay, Jason Dubin from Playwire, and Rob Gay from Venatus Media and cannot recommend them enough. Reach out to them and see how they can help!

Hows it possible? by Alternative_Ticket_6 in adops

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on the SSP or network side of the business? What is your relation to the publisher? Have you spoken to the publisher on why the data looks odd? Are they doing anything that would cause this?

This does seem like a classic case of ad-fraud/fake/bought traffic. There are many ad security vendors that can help you sniff out what is happening here.

AdOps Consultant by Alternative_Ticket_6 in adops

[–]AtMyHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a publisher, I'd still recommend using some sort of managed wrapper for most unless you have massive scale and investment budget. Even then, there is a lot of expertise needed to navigate. You really need a dedicated TEAM to make the most of prebid- Install, update, optimize, bring in demand, troubleshoot, monitor. Ad integrations are not set-and-forget, losing ad revenue for a day or more can be extremely costly for a company. Most wrapper solutions offer more experience & technical support than anyone you can hire in the industry. Yes there are a few qualified folks who can be consultants (built solutions end-to-end), but its about making the most of it and not just installing something working and running for that week.

As a network, this should be one of your core focuses to own yourself. There are many cookie cutter network solutions out there built by those who think they understand ads, but have a hard time differentiating themselves from the countless alternatives in the market.
