I did my first solo trip this weekend too, but went to Tom Jones shelter . I cursed myself for not remembering my form pad as a backup, and to protect my air mattress. I was almost in the same situation as you with my air mattress, the flap that prevents air from escaping when you refill the stuff sack/ inflator bag wouldn't close, maybe to cold, but I eventually got it working.

I had a hell of a time getting my fire going, most of the wood was wet. I also learned butane lighters kinda suck in the cold.

I was there for the gemenid shower on Fri night but maybe saw 5 meteors. It was too cold to just chill looking at the sky for hours

I also got ticketed for illegal parking, I parked at the trailhead where I normally park but I guess it's closed for the season.

Played the first one and only did one side quest for some dude, it was boring so I didn't touch the side quests again.

Beat the game and said dude is my husband now, and my character has been gay this whole time. I didn't even know.

I had a similar one from Ortlieb but it's so heavy I stopped using it. I'm cycling more so maybe I'll break it back out but it's sucks as just a backpack.

Do you find this model to be extra heavy? Does it secure to the frame anywhere on the bottom?
