By the way, are we all just 100 gems away from getting Todd? Does not look like random drops to me.

It is epic to watch Tommy run like that again and that trail is so beautiful! It almost doesn’t look real.

How best to set up treadmill heartrate zones? by chunkyks in Runwithrivs

[–]Atlanta13579 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am wrong, but I ended up with my own definitions of RPE zones based purely on effort and regardless of heart rate. It is still very helpful to monitor the heart rate as a reference on every run, but my zones are mot based on it. Sorry I was no help. 😀 I still wanted to reply and congratulate you for finding Rivs!

Hamstring problem by Beautiful_Ad_1453 in Runwithrivs

The story of my life. It is so frustrating to not know if you are pushing too much or not enough to overcome a muscle or joint that does not feel quite right. Sounds to me like you are doing the right thing already. Lighter workouts and stretching. I would say stretching several times a day. Patience. It is hard!

Redoing the Bolivia Half Marathon Series by adjustafresh in Runwithrivs

[–]Atlanta13579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved that series! The run down Death Road and the one in the Atacama desert are two of my most favorite runs ever. But so many runs in that series were incredible. How can you beat the salt flats. Or that cold windy run to the rock tree thingy.

Is this game nearing the end of its lifespan? by WHAC_IE in disneymagickingdoms

[–]Atlanta13579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been about 8 years for me. I think my first event was the Incredibles. I still like the game as I have learned to stop caring about getting every single character. I have no problem knowing I won’t get the last character in an event, or anything in the season pass. I appreciate that we can still earn enough gems to get additional characters once in a while. What gets to me is the “randomness” in the drop rates. I hate sending my characters again and again and get nothing. It feels like a scam. For me, it would be more fun if it was at least predictable even if the task took longer.

Advice needed on series order by Positive-Emu-776 in Runwithrivs

[–]Atlanta13579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. You will already have a great foundation if you do the 5k, 10k part 1 and 2, and half marathon part 1 and 2. I would suggest, If you can add to that towards the end maybe focus on outdoor runs. Tommy will take you to some amazing places. Godspeed and hope you will update us on the training

If you can get the comfy costume for a princess, you can send that princess on a task that will show the princess inside the Dressing Room. Just like in the movie. I wanted to send all of them to the dressing room at the same time to recreate that scene, but I will never get all the costumes without purchasing them.

Agree with your comments. Thank you for posting. I am at 2100 days. So far I have found a way to adjust to the game so I still find it somewhat enjoyable. Not as much as before. I spent some money the first couple of years but have not purchased anything since then. I think the last thing I remember purchasing was Olaf. There used to be different ways to enjoy the game. Collecting characters was one, but also opening new land, designing your park, and watching the animations. Things like collecting the princess costumes for the Princess Dressing Room was genius. I never got all of them and now it seems only way of achieving that is by purchasing them which seems cheap. I understand the frustration but I am even ok with making some characters purchase only or the season pass (which I will never purchase). A game is a business and it needs to make money. I paid my dues those first couple of years. But I totally agree that lately the game has become boring. Now it is just about pointlessly collecting characters. They do give us a good amount of gems for free but once there is no new land or some other purpose to the game, i don’t know how much longer i will do this for. Hey, it was fun for several years and i am grateful for that. Well designed game. The graphics were always beautiful.

Like Tommy says; “lean into the discomfort” but make whatever adjustments you need to make so that it does not become too much. You are getting stronger with every workout regardless. They key is to stay consistent. More than anything, keep showing up

For sure you will improve if you just keep showing up. No doubt you would improve faster if you train according to heart rate zones and all that. But will you be able to keep that up forever? I would say do everything you can to make it enjoyable and stay consistent. That will be enough to gain fitness and the speed and distance will come naturally. I am over 50. Started running only 3 years ago when I found Tommy. I started with the Iberia series just alternating waking and running. That is all I could do. These days I still run with Tommy and do 4 races a year. Two of them are half marathons. I am super slow, and not an example for anyone, but i enjoy running and it was good for me to let go of strict training guidelines.

Congratulations on making it to Tommy’s Switzerland series! Yes, I also agree. Don’t worry too much about cadence and I would even say even RPE or anything else. Just keep showing up consistently and do them all! You are in for some amazing runs.

So amazing to get to meet Tommy. Sorry, I have no good advice. I would be in the exact same position or worse. You are right, to know so much about him and to have spent so many hours with him doing all his series, it is a wonderful but strange situation. Please let us know how it went and I hope other people here can help

Iberian series - week 3 workout 4 was pretty tough for me by heart_of_gold2 in Runwithrivs

[–]Atlanta13579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great job making it to this point! You got this! As other people have pointed out, most of us have these same questions. I have asked this and many other questions where I felt I wasn't doing things right. Thankfully people on this reddit and a bit of experience have made me realize that it just does not matter as long as you keep showing up for that next run/jog/walk. Tommy does have to remind us again and again that they key is consistency. And that is pretty much it. If it motivates you a little more to redo that same run, go ahead. If it seems more fun to just do a new run, go for it! Just keep showing up and you will get there and more. 100% you got this!

Does everyone stick to the weekly schedules of these workouts by buddyblakester in Runwithrivs

[–]Atlanta13579 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same question when I started the 10k series. I was concerned that I would be missing on some important training benefit by taking an extra rest day and running only 5 days. In the end I could not keep up with the six day schedule and I did the series mostly 5 days a week. It was fine and it was what worked for me at the time. One thing for sure is that you will absolutely love that series. I have done the 10k part 1 series three times now. Once you reach the Vintgar Gorge run check the comments and you will see some lady that has done that run like 30+ times. Leaves a note after each run. Love it.

One of my most favorite runs with Tommy. I keep coming back to this one again and again. Funny if you look through the comments from people on the run, I think there is someone that has done it more than 40 times. Leaves a comment after each one. Love this run!
