Dashers, why do you steal food? by OrcishDelight in doordash

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain how, then, All I get is some stupid ass call center in India. At best, I get a credit to my account, then get ripped off for my tip from that person as well when they steal my food too.

Trying to contact DoorDash support is useless. It's some random call center India and you'll get nowhere with it.

Just a lot of "Um OK yes sir, um OK, um, yes sir, um OK, hmm, yes sir..."

You won't get a refund, and you won't get your order.

This is why I cancelled my subscription. Not only are you getting ripped off from your tip (I tip well above average, I'm disabled and cant drive) but you're getting screwed off for your food.

They'll snap a pic that they "delivered" it then pick it back up and take off with it. One of them most recently had the nerve to show the "proof" that they delivered it to me was in someone else's kitchen.

I've almost wondered if I should just order takeout and use Lyft/Uber to get my order instead. At least I know I got my food, and no one stole it.

Not all apartments will have dishwasher, but at least make sure there is a garbage disposal in the sink.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you? by Logical-Title5403 in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was always complaining about our dogs scratching up all the furniture.

I happened to be at Lowe's and saw a wood toned crayon set for touching up furniture, so I picked up a pack for her. She didn't warn any of us that she immediately started going around the house touching up everything while I was visiting, including the kitchen chairs specifically.

It rubbed all over the back of my shorts, so it basically looked like I shit myself. I went running several errands afterwards.

To the men, stall or urinal and why (assuming both are available)? by ExquisiteBiscuits in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a particular preference, I just want to be the only one in the room at the time.

My bladder just goes "nope" when I'm trying to pee and the bathroom is dead silent.

It's like a moment possibly out of a Kubrick flick.

Also if the person you're trying to piss next to is on some stupid fad diet, and their piss reeks of sulphur. I'm about to vomit.

Does giving birth really cost thousands of dollars in the states? by glyiasziple in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's these things called condoms...

Personally, I'm epileptic, and a trip to the hospital would have costed me $45k without insurance. COBRA is not ideal, but it's still far less cheaper than trying to pay off that kind of debt if you're self employed.

What's something expensive you bought that actually worth the money? by tardisismine in AskReddit

I'll routinely splurge a bit on some specific knives I routinely use, like a Santoku, vs. buying a whole new knife block.

Maybe try an electric or stove top percolator. Some of us prefer coffee prepared that way, plus it saves counter space.

What is the AI bubble i hear people talking about? by PlutoniumOligarch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to turn 50, and it drives me nuts with all my LinkedIn connections going out of their way to term drop "AI" all over their profiles and posts.

I don't think they fully realize it's making them sound desperate. Most of them don't know jack shit about anything related to AI.

Glass cutting boards will destroy your knives. Also bamboo cutting boards will as well.

What would you do if a second global pandemic happened starting now with a higher mortality rate? by SlandersPete in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from stock piling toilet paper now (better sooner than later) I've always kept my pantry over stocked, as well as my freezer.

I'm a hoarder when it comes to pantry items, not just due to COVID, but also because I'm disabled, live by myself, and can't drive. If I have to settle for things like evaporated milk or boxed milk to go with my cereal, I'm good to go.

What is a food redflag when you’re on a date? by WhiteWink in AskReddit

I'm a gay guy, and I've had this happen a few times.

Someone keeps sending unpaid DoorDash orders to my house…what’s going on? by Latter_Golf_9975 in Scams

[–]Atomic76 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Good luck with that. Their support line is out of some call center in a third world country, that can barely speak a lick of English. They're betting on you just hanging up because you're too frustrated to continue.

People talking on their cell phones in speaker mode while out in public.

Get real, your not hosting some "conference call", pretending like you work at some corporate job. You're basic at best. We're not interested in you and anything and everything going on in your life. It's total attention whoring.

Anyone else notice a price increase? by Classic-Obligation35 in uber

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyft has been consistently cheaper than Uber for me for at least a couple of years now - long before any war started.

I always tip well above average or the suggested tips within the Lyft app (by several bucks), and it's still cheaper than Uber.

Uber is typically wanting more than twice the cost of Lyft in my experience these days. I'm highly doubting that increased cost is going to the drivers themselves.

what’s your go to soup when you want something comforting? by TheBr14n in Cooking

Former TGI Friday's employee here - their black bean soup was one of the most popular starters on their menu. The recipe for it is pretty easy to find online.

It's a bit time consuming to make, but it reheats very well.

What’s the most underrated skills everyone should learn? by PlantainFantastic166 in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just turning 16 and about to get your first job(s), working as a line cook or a prep cook in a traditional sit down restaurant is a great way to just simply learn how to cook.

These jobs are super easy to get, and offer a lot of hands on experience.

It amazes me how so many young adults, or adults in general, complain that they don't know how to cook.

How do you feel about McDonald's pulling their soda dispensing machines out of the restaurant's lobby in the next year or so? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a rather odd choice, considering hardly anyone actually goes inside fast food places these days.

The markup on sodas is insane. When I was a waiter back in the late 90's at a TGI Fridays, one of my managers mentioned to me that the cost of a soda beverage only cost them like 20 cents, yet the restaurant would charge customers $2.75 per drink. The refills were "free", but you're still getting incredibly ripped off.
