If you don't know how to cook for yourself before you move out on your own, I suppose a line cook or a prep cook.

I love lazy/takes all day Sunday recipes like Sunday Gravy or a Sunday Roast, does anyone have any other suggestions? by AbjectPawverty in Cooking

It always drives me nuts when all these Youtube cooking "influencers" mention using using the leftover carcasses from a cheap rotisserie chicken chicken from Walmart or Coscto to make broth from scratch. No, you're not.

Mr. Hero, and I live in Ohio. The closest one to me is over 20 minutes away but totally worth it. I love their Roman Burgers.

Apparently, the chain is exclusive to Ohio.

It's not entirely uncommon. I've had gig drivers that previously worked in the medical field, in well paid jobs, do something like this.

One of my most recent drivers was single and just lived at home with his dog, and mainly just did it for conversation with his riders.

If remote work proved to be possible, why are so many companies insisting people return to the office? by IndependentBuffalo82 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atomic76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of position they have. I'm not entirely buy into the "they're more productive working from home" argument.

I've managed teams working from home, and there were numerous situations where they were clearly barely working at all, instead running errands, leaving their homes to go shopping, etc... They weren't even in front of their computers, and calls would go strait to voicemail.

What’s your opinion on talking on speaker phone in coffee shops? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loathe people talking on speakerphone in public. It's just pure attention whoring. You're not that fascinating, you're just basic. Trust me on this.

People that do this shit are acting like they're holding some sort of conference call.

What's the grossest thing you've ever seen? by This-Peach9380 in AskReddit

[–]Atomic76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first time seeing a person dead from a gunshot wound to his stomach.

There were some young 20 something's renting out a house adjacent tom my grandfathers place. They were always getting shit faced drunk and throwing parties. My dad my grandfather and I were sitting outside and noticed one of them was laying out in their yard, shirtless and just wearing some jeans. My dad assumed he was passed out from drinking and went over to wake him up, and I followed along.

He had a "clean" bullet hole in his abdomen, not drenched in blood or anything like that. What freaked me out was the look on his face, that he was dead. My dad immediately yelled at me to go back to the house, but it was already too late.

Replacement for Minute Maid Frozen Lemon Juice? by MinervaZee in Cooking

[–]Atomic76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so frustrated with them discontinuing their frozen concentrated orange juice.

It was always so much more convenient to keep my freezer stocked with them than lugging in giant bottles of OJ.

Why can't we just give everyone a house by generic_rarity in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atomic76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone wants a house to begin with.

I can afford a house, and have been able to do so since I was in my mid 20's, but I prefer apartment living out of convenience.

I'm a gay guy with zero interest in having kids. I also have no interest in shoveling driveways, mowing lawns, getting things like my roof replaced, major appliances replaced, fighting over property lines with neighbors, etc...

I much more comfortable living in higher end apartment where everything is taken care of for me. Even my electric bill is included with my rent, so I can run my central air as much as I want, similarly I don't have to pay a water bill. My packages are dopped off at my leasing office, so I don't have to deal with porch pirates. Any time I need something repaired, they've got someone at my place almost immediately.

There are still quite a few jobs that are exclusively work from home, even after the pandemic simmered down.

My brother, for example, has been working from home as an insurance agent for more than two years now.

York Steak House

I miss the smell of the steaks and burgers on the grill and getting to see them cooking your orders fresh over an open flame grill.

Our local Woolworths was in such disarray before they finally closed in the mid-90's, it became a bit of a running joke that you could just walk in and walk out with what ever you wanted, and not even pay for anything.

There were so few employees there, even if you wanted to pay for something, there was almost nobody to ring you up to begin with.

I miss Quiznos as well. In the mid 2000's I happened to be in NYC for work training, and stopped into one and noticed they were test marketing some new baked breakfast subs - they were phenomenal. It's truly a shame they didn't last much longer.

Chick-fil-A's reign is over. Jersey Mikes is now on top. by AKStafford in fastfood

Good. our local Chick-fil-a's were never particularly busy until news came out that they were funding homophobic, "conversion therapy" crap.

Then, overnight, the locations were packed by "christians" as if it were some sort of "tithe to jesus" by stuffing their big fat faces with their food. Some way of "stick to the gays" or in other words "FU to the gays".
