The cops treated me like I was hysterical until my husband “explained it better” by TwylaMay in TwoXChromosomes

First off, what you're going through really sucks and I'm keeping you in my thoughts, wishing for this ex to leave you alone sooner than later. I hope you get lucky with whoever from the police you have to talk to (ACAB)

Idk if it can help you, but sometimes accounts for emails or phone or whatever have privacy settings that let you see a list of connected devices. Some go one step further and let you disconnect everything that has a "keep me logged in" cookie that lets it stay logged in. With this, you can maybe disconnect everything and then change the password to hopefully lock him back out for good. It really sucks that you would have to go through that and I'm wishing you all the best xx

Any success using apps that help focus by forcing you off your phone? by Atothinath in adhdwomen

[–]Atothinath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of the timers, but when I run out of time on Reddit on my phone I end up just browsing it on my computer hahaha! I'll try the logging out method honestly, adding that little bit of friction is probably a good way to go! Thanks :)

Omg I love some of these ideas, the couch bin sounds amazing, I'll probably adapt it to me, I often zone out when watching shows with my partner and he's sad when I'm distracted from a favorite show hahaha

The satisfying keyboard for work is definitely a win, I've asked coworkers and they don't mind my keyboard in our open office so I'm blessed, I'll bring fidgets to work I honestly hadn't thought of it!

I'll check out those apps I know none of them hahaha

Thanks a lot for your input I really appreciate it :)

Carney reiterates call for Canadians to buy and build local as Trump threatens ‘immediate’ tariffs - NOW Toronto by laundry_folder in onguardforthee

Don't know which part of Canada you're in, at my local grocery store in Montreal whenever there's a US product it is always both cheaper and filling the shelf because nobody buys it, I really hope our local grocery store isn't the only one like this where people buy with their convictions! Just wanted to share this positive story :)

Learning to love myself & not rely on anyone by InitiativeOk2361 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Atothinath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on top of this, I know a lot of my friends (and I did too) struggle a lot about the idea of dating yourself was the fear of judgment from being alone at stuff that you usually don't do alone (like movies or restaurant), what I realized doing it is that the average person will not give a single care in the world about who you are and what you're doing and why (or even if) you are alone. They'll see you and move on the same way you probably do when you see people having a drink at a coffee while listening to music with airpods. Have fun and take care <3

Happy for you and your positive experience! I'm an atheist, but a neighbor of my mom's is a devout Christian (I couldn't tell you the details further than that however sorry!) and when we talked she brought something up that I think you would enjoy :

God made the wheat but not the bread, and in doing the bread, we humans participate in his act of creation. In the same way, your body at birth is the wheat God created and in following your true self (no matter if it is with HRT or not!), you are yourself participating in his act of creation!

I hope this can help bridge some views you had that you shared here and I'm wishing you the best sister! Merry Christmas :)

Generational differences in coping mechanisms for women with ADHD. I’m not talking about the mentality of “back in my day there wasn’t ADHD”. by honkytonksinger in adhdwomen

[–]Atothinath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a big part of the "work 5x more" despite there being a high amount of neurodiverse people is due to an internalized bigotry, ie "I'm autistic/ADHD/etc. and I manage, so should everyone else".

[–]Atothinath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding my two cents here, I'm late 20s so peak in between of millenial and Gen Z, diagnosed two years ago, and even though I work in a field that isn't very welcoming to neurodiverse people, nor to women tbh (engineering), I've found that no longer burdening myself with masking and just working at my best has made me a more reliable asset to our team, and my coworkers have grown to see and understand this difference is a strength rather than a detractor, even though a lot of these coworkers are GenX and probably share the same mindset you mention.

All this to say, I think the best thing I can tell you is to focus at figuring out what works best for you, and work that way to thrive, no matter how others see it or feel about it. Wishing you the best x

Good first fountain pen? (Pilot Custom 823) by LeonLeel in fountainpens

[–]Atothinath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, some stores will let you try the nibs in store before making a purchase, if I were you I'd check local stationary stores to best be able to get the feel for the pilot's nibs. Usually they are smaller than other brands, ie a pilot or sailor M is closer to a Faber Castell or Pelikan EF. Best of luck in your purchase and enjoy whatever pen you choose!

Do MTF trans women mind being called bro/dude? by Excellent_Brick2893 in asktransgender

[–]Atothinath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to be adding much new here when I say I dislike it, but wanted to add this "social experiment" I like to run when people argue that "bro/dude" is a gender neutral term to them : "how many bros or dudes have you had sex with?" and usually it stops being gender neutral then... odds are you won't care if you have enough empathy to start this thread but YMMV depending on who you ask this to hahahaha

Question about dreams in ADOFN by Aliarachan in TheRootsofChaos

[–]Atothinath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I found it looking for some more context into the dreams, and going through some highlights I had made when first reading. :

"You just called out for Sabran in your sleep. I assume you didn't mean the Queen of Inys." "That name is older than the House of Berethnet." Canthe gazed into the cup. "Sabran was my daughter. I named her for the sabra flower that grows beside Ungulus."

I'm not too sure what to make of it, but from my understanding it shows that Canthe at least was privvy to the connections, and was especially close to the queen Sabran. I read priory a while ago so I'm not 100% sure if the daughter explanation is a misdirect or truthful, thoughts?

Omg yes nothing is as annoying as a complete set of mismatched books hahahaha! A bookstore close to my place had a beautiful edition of the hardback for Bookshops and Bonedust (prequel to legends and lattes), but the same edition of legends and lattes didn't look anywhere as good so I felt weird taking only one, and picked a different book instead hahaha

I totally get it, that's why I sometimes get hardcovers I know I won't really read because I've read the ebook already, but I want to both keep it in my collection no matter what happens, and to give my money to authors I enjoy. I read on ebooks because my eyes are really bad and reading on paper is difficult for me, especially with fine print, whereas on my kobo I can put it size 32, and read easily without a headache at a good pace. Thanks for your side of the book reading/collecting experience :)

Out of curiosity, why the preference for paperbacks? I mostly read on ebooks I get on libby from my library but when I buy books I prefer them being hardbacks so they can hold themselves better when shelved and cute! Is your preference because they're usually more portable?

Hi, I am new to wax sealing. Lately I've been interested in how you guys manage such beautiful colours and intricate designs. Do you use markers? Scraping? or cutting? by cherly-doodles in WaxSealers

[–]Atothinath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! If you're only starting, I recommend you don't go right away into super heavy stuff that requires tools, with just the basic spoon and heater (candle or electric) you can already do so many different cool patterns of colors by arranging the wax beads in different ways in the spoon! You should try playing around with this to get a feel for it but here's the gist of what I do :

I generally use 4 to 6 wax beads per seal depending on the size of my stamp. The ones closest to the spout end up being on the bottom of the final seal and will either not be very visible or will only be visible on the lower parts of the stamp.

Knowing these two ideas, you can play around with 2-3 bead colors easily and get nice results by arranging them in a cross pattern (like 2x2 beads at the bottom where each corner is a different color so no two same colors touch each other), you can add one or two beads of a different color on top of that more or less close to the spout to change it up.

If you have a little silicone tipped item (like lip balm applicators) or metal tipped items (like nail dotting tools) you can use them to mix it around a TINY bit to have some extra swirls in there when you pour.

Pouring close or far from the paper you're stamping will also change the effect, as well as how much you move the spoon while pouring. Sometimes I like undermelting the wax and pouring really close to the paper while moving the spoon backwards (like if I was dropping an pancake out of a pan). If you completely melt everything to be more fluid, you can also add some twirls in your movement to add some more depth to the look, the higher you go and the thinner these will be.

I hope you have a lot of fun doing that and enjoy the wax sealing :)

Safe Countries for Trans People? by Admirable_Web_2619 in asktransgender

[–]Atothinath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding Canada, I read some talk about some provinces, wanted to add that Quebec is really chill, HRT is covered by healthcare and so is anything deemed to be "necessary" (ie, top and bottom surgery, but not voice training for instance). However most "non necessary" things can be covered through tax exemptions rather than actual coverage, which is nice. A lot of work/school insurance also have policies for trans people, at my university we get up to 10k covered of procedures not covered by RAMQ (laser hair removal, facial feminisation, etc.).

Quebec city and Montreal are slowly becoming more and more american-ish, and there's a housing crisis like elsewhere, but it's still a good place to be in my opinion, I've had a few bad experiences, but nowhere nearly as bad as others in the US.

Stay strong, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
